Description
New Quay Honey Farm started in 1995 when my parents made the move from Dairy Farming to Bee Farming. We had been beekeeping in the family for years; I started at the age of nine after some encouragement and guidance from a neighbour, and on buying my first hive the interest was sparked in all of us.
We now have hundreds of hives spread across the beautiful Ceredigion countryside in small groups which give us a beautifully blended honey from the depth and diversity of the wildflowers in the county.

Bottle thanks to SarkyNorthener. Thanks Martin. Intense sweet and perfumed heather aroma. Some nougat and heather aroma. Heather is like an old woman’s bouquet. It’s ok in the mouth. I mean hugely sweet. Then the heather is quite strong too. Light yet sweet. Dry heather yet almost sickly sweet on the teeth. Odd but quite intriguing mead.

Bottle from Sarkynorthener cheers Martin; this is my first intentional mead rating the other was a style change, dusty light golden syrup pour, intense heather honey aroma on pour, taste is sweet with big heather honey tastes a bit like what pollen smells like, a bit cough syrup but a pleasant tasting experience.

Golden color, hazy. Smell of ginger, and cleaning alcohol, some chemicals. Very sweet, sugary; honey syrup with some ginger flavor, but also a light herbal touch; light bitterness in the final, and high alcohol perception. Messy.

It pours a dense dark amber color with orange reflexes, and some sediment, hence hazy. Nice aroma, almonds, some fruits, alcohol and honey. Very sweet and syrupy, but with a high degree of acidity; some almond flavor, and lighter flavor of bitter almonds; alcohol warmth. The bitterness in the end is expected in this mead. Less surprising than, for example, the Blueberry version, but still a good one.

Dark red color. Aroma of berry juice and alcohol. Sweet flavor; the berry juice is in complete harmony with the mead, it gives some fruit flavor, light astringency, mild acidity, overall better achieved than in most similar meads; there is also a peculiar woody, almost smokey note; warming alcohol. Very good.

Bottled. An amber beer mead. The aroma has notes of ginger, honey, and herbs. The flavor is sweet with notes of alcohol, honey, ginger, and straw, leading to a dry alcoholic finish. Thanks fiulijn for sharing.

Clear, light gold. The aroma is a little bit simple, hot. Sweet with light woody notes and a fair bit of alcohol. Not the most refined mead to ever cross my palate.
