Description
The brewery was founded in 2005 by four home brewers who wanted to make high quality beers. In 2016 two of the original founders retired, and the brewery is today owned by a constellation of the two remaining founders, some employees at the brewery and three other Norwegian craft breweries.

Haandbryggeriet currently has 10 employees all participating in developing new ground breaking beers and recipes.

The brewery has a wide selection ranging from classic and traditional beers to new and innovative brews and hybrid beer styles. Sometimes brewed with local and Nordic ingredients such as cherries, sea buckthorn, raspberries, and lingonberries. Haandbryggeriet has since 2005 also made high quality sours and barrel aged beers such as porters and Christmas beers.

Bottle, at RBESG 2007 in Glasgow, Grand Tasting. Orange colour, hazy. Huge head. Very nice hoppy and fruity aroma, some yeasty notes too. Fruity and flowery hoppy flavour, with a moderate bitterness. Quite nice.

Bottle at RBESG 2007. So hoppy, thinnish on the malts, but hot hop on the end. Superb.

Bottle at RBESG 2007. Choccy porter, that is a little on the thin side. Powdery in the mouth and a little bit acidic towards the end.

Bottled at RBESG ’07. Cloudy amber. Honeyish aroma with a light citric touch. Sweet and lightly sulphury, medium bodied with slightly sticky mouthfeel. Notes of orange before a finish with medium bitterness.

Bottle. Very dark pour, ruby/brown color, with a beige head. Chocolate, coffee, burnt malt and a wee note of sourness in the aroma. I found the aroma slightly better than the flavor, but the flavor isn’t bad either, with chocolate, coffee and hops being the main elements. A bit thin body, I could wish for a fuller one, but being only 4.5% ABV, I wasn’t surprised. The finish has hops, roasted malt and is a bit fruity. A nice, English-style porter. (070705)

Bottle. Almost clear body, golden-orange color, with an off-white head. Peach, pine and citrus dominates the aroma, really pleasant. The flavor is quite hoppy as well, with citrus, pine, fruits and bitterness. Hoppy finish too. Medium to full body. A lovely and refreshing beer at a quite low ABV. Rating: 7-4-7-4-15-3.7. 070705

Bottle. A hazy, orange-golden beer topped by a big, dense, off-white head that stays. Citrus peel, pine cones and peaches on the nose. The flavor has a malty sweetness in the back, with citrus and peach up front. A good bitterness takes you to ehe end. Full-bodied. A fine beer indeed, definately one of the best available in grocery stores in Norway. 100727
