Description
The brewery was founded in 2005 by four home brewers who wanted to make high quality beers. In 2016 two of the original founders retired, and the brewery is today owned by a constellation of the two remaining founders, some employees at the brewery and three other Norwegian craft breweries.
Haandbryggeriet currently has 10 employees all participating in developing new ground breaking beers and recipes.
The brewery has a wide selection ranging from classic and traditional beers to new and innovative brews and hybrid beer styles. Sometimes brewed with local and Nordic ingredients such as cherries, sea buckthorn, raspberries, and lingonberries. Haandbryggeriet has since 2005 also made high quality sours and barrel aged beers such as porters and Christmas beers.

Bottled, brewed 04/2006, batch #31. Almost opaque black, huge tan head. Yeasty, woody aroma, notes of banana. Very carbonated, alcoholic, fruity, estery flavors. Smoked, riped banana flavors. Reasonably balanced.

Bottle 0,5l. Dark brown. An aggressive head that disappeared rather quickly. Dominated by far too high carbonation that owershadows the flavour. Lot of sediments.

Original review text: Bottled@Chris O Post GBBF Tasting. Pale yellowish hazy colour with mediumsized creamy white head. Aroma is wheat, hops, yeast and mild notes of citrus fruits. Flavour is quite much he same, but has a bunch of spices added to it. Something between hefeweisse and witbier.

Bottled@RBESG’06. Patch #30. Hazy orange, small white head. Wheaty, slighly sour nose. Carbonated, crisp, light banana notes. Not spicey but overall like crossover of German weizen and witbier.

Head tries to escape out of the bottle the moment I open it. In the glass it’s huge, coarse-laced, and shrinking fast. Body is opaque black, and at the edges a lighter shade of black, incredibly. Large yeast particles. Aroma is sweetish coffee and licorice. Harmonic, but not very strong. Taste is sweet coffee and licorice, with a dry, burnt aftertaste. Powerful, but still relatively light and easy to drink. Some alcohol heat is noticeable. Some acidity, a touch of chocolate, and some bitterness which is well hidden in all the rest. Quite good, definitely a decent effort. (0.5l bottle.)

50 cl bottle at The Rover in Gothenburg, Sweden. Shady orange color, big white to tan head. Hoppy fruity scent, rather "small" though. Big hoppy fruity fresh taste. Good bitterness. Medium high mouthfeel. Yeast sediment at the bottom is cafe latte colored, smells like chocolate. Though trust, me, it’s totally undrinkable, strange bitterness that makes you crave water.

An unclear brown beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with primary notes of caramel, but also with lighter notes of wheat and banana - and so is the flavor.

500 ml bottle, Vinmonopolet. Batch No. 31. On the first pour my weissbier glass fills completely with brown foam, which very slowly subsides to form a large and creamy head, on top of an opaque dark brown beer. First a very nice aroma of dark fruits, bakery / rye bread, bananas and cloves, then some less pleasant sidenotes of pepper and artificial candy set in. Flavour is sweet and alcoholic, notes of roasted malts and slightly burnt toast. Fairly bitter finish. This weizenbock is no Aventinus, but still a nice try.
