On Cask at Craft Beer Co. Black as hell. Lasting tan head. Yes a touch of heat and obvious alcohol in the swallow. But. And its a big but. This is a selicious choc laden stout with some dark cherry liquer. Lovely strong cask stout. Good beer perfectly conditioned. Lovely blackcurrant.

33cl bottle. Pours golden orange with a small head, most of which disappears. The nose has pine and grapefruit pith. The taste has more pine and grapefruit. The palate is medium-bodied with a good texture and a clean finish. Overvall, a step up from the basic Pale Ale but still not enough malt and fruitiness.

Cask at Craft Beer Co. Aroma of cocoa and light coffee. Almost exactly like Minoh Stout. Pitch black with lace. Flavor of wood, cocoa, light body, woody, roasty, a bit of coffee. Body a bit light. Strong bitterness from hops and roast. Some berries. Complex but a bit messy bitterness. Good but got a bit boring. Very like Minoh but thinner and bitterer.

Cask at Craft Beer Co. Deep blonode. Great hop nose--deep and complex. Tasty golden malts and honey, bread. Great hops: grass, citrus. Nice body and malt for so light a beer. Rich, hoppy, great malts for a 3.9.

33cl bottle, thanks to Chris Mair. Pours golden with initially a decent head which then falls away. The nose has grapefruit and just a hint of mandarins. The taste is pink grapefruit, then pine. The palate has a medium body and texture with a very dry finish. Again, this is one for the hop-heads - it’s just too unbalanced for me - it needs more malty sweetness. The fruitiness on the nose is never as generous on the taste.

33cl bottle thanks to Chris Mair! Pours light chestnut with an orange hue. There is a nice head but it mostly disappears in the first couple of minutes. The nose has some raisin malt but is mostly pine and grapefruit pith. The taste has more grapefruit and pith with not sweet malt to talk of. The palate has a medium body and texture with a very fresh and zingy finish. Overall, it’s a good beer for the hopheads, but it needs a little more malt sweetness for me, so it is very flavoursome but lacks balance.

On tap at the Craft Beer Co, Clerkenwell, London 23.07.11 Pours hazy golden with white head. Amazing hoppy nose, just sublime. Flavourful full on IPA that really is up there with the best of British IPA’s (IMHO) cracking stuff, full on hoppy onslaught, touch of hoppy burn, some softness in the mouth, tongue tangling bitter hoppy belter. There is some tropical fruitiness amongst the hops and not for the first time tonight I get a little mango, but my notes are far from thorough tonight as having too much of a good time. Cask at the Craft Beer Co, Clerkenwell, London 23.07.11 Pours dark brown in colour, smooth, really smooth and very easy drinking beer. Some liquorice but not overdone with a little coffee also present, dab of chocolate yum, this is really nice stuff. Notes are sketchy I’m afraid as having too much of a good time, but believe me this is very, very nice, thanks for the recommendation Chris! A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8

Draught@Craft Beer Co, London. Golden colour, small head. Aroma is fruits, grass, some floral notes as well as some bready notes. Flavour is fruits, grass, floral and mild wooden notes. Pleasant, but a bit boring at the same time.

Cask@Craft Beer Co, London. Yellowish golden colour, small white head. Aroma is fruity, floral, mildly eggy and vegetably as well as some herbal notes. Flavour is floral and grassy hops along with some maltyness and a slight touch of vanilla.
