Description
Penn Brewery began brewing craft beer back in 1986, making us one of the earliest pioneers in the American craft movement. We started out brewing classic lagers and German beer styles, adhering to the strict quality standards of the 16th-century Bavarian Reinheitsgebot purity laws. As we’ve expanded our lineup in recent years to include IPAs and other contemporary styles like chocolate and pumpkin beers, we’ve stayed true to our quality craftsmanship, brewing all of our beers by hand with top-tier barley and hops. We’re proud to say that Penn beers have won a total of twenty Great American Beer Festival® and World Beer Cup® medals.

Sampled on draft at Olde New York this beer poured a dark golden color with a large fluffy whitehead that lingered and left excellent lacing. The aroma was crisp floral and perfumey hops. The flavor was sweetish and bready with crisp floral and perfumey hops. Medium length finish. Medium body. Pleasant.

Sampled on draft at Gateway Grill this beer poured a medium brown color with orange undertones and a medium sized foamy orange-beige head that left decent lacing. The aroma was lovely - just like a cinnamon bun with sweet caramel, toffee, cinnamon sugar and icing. The flavor was sweet yet off with an egg white and almost melon note followed by strong cinnamon, nutmeg and icing. Long finish. Medium body. Interesting.

penn has some classy labels on their bottles. smell like many other golden or cream ales. yes, at first it comes across rather refreshing on the palate. evidently the spices become more forward in the middle. It seems like it wants to come across like a shandy but never quite gets there. som funny heat in there too. I expected an better than average beer and I got it.

Yellow color and an IPA aroma fer shure. Keg left over from the beer tasating week. Some slight b/o in there. Big jolt of IPA up front. Probably not as bitter as i was expecting. Not sure about the mandarine, can’t sense it. Somewhat lacking in any fruity attributes.

Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a pilsener glass.
The appearance was a nice looking hazy amber to orange color with a decent one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. The lacing graced the glass nicely.
The smell had a nice assortment of Germany pilsner malts and had a nice light bitter crisp hops to complement the aroma.
The taste was mainly sweet and crisp.
The palate sat fairly light and sessionable. There was a good crisp carbonation about it.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good Pilsener.

Not as brutally gingery as some beer, but still not super great. Watery palate. Light barley. Pale blonde pour with ok head and lacing. Tap at Brew’d
