Out of a bottle, this made a big giant 6-7 inch head, good thing I poured it into my bomber mug. Head turned rocky. Smell is dull IPA, almost like lager laced with IPA hops. Smell reminds me of the straub IPL. Big dull rude IPA flavors fer sure on the onslaught. Yes, big and rude, terribly on style. not sure what you ratebeerians find so pleasing about this style. Wew. If you like IPA forget my numbers and give it a try. Not as mouth coating or viscous as other IPA I’ve downed. Big long rude nasty bitter finish, lasts forever, give me a clean lager to rinse with.

Drought. Slightly hazy amber color with creamy beige head, very little doughy aroma hint of nutmeg, low carbonation, sweetish taste, abrupt finish. Nice but not remarkable for me.

Sampled on draft at Smokin’ Joe’s this beer poured a medium brown color with a medium sized foamy white head that faded and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was bead, banana and pepper, The flavor was tart and tangy citrus, bread, caramel and a hint of banana. Medium length tangy citrus, bread and banana finish. Medium body. Solid.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy very pale yellow color with a large foamy yellow-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was sweetish, tart and tangy citric acid. The flavor was dry, tart and bitter citric acid and lemon zest. Dry tart and bitter citric finish. Medium body. Blah.

Bottle @ home via trade with weihenweizen. Pours a hazy/cloudy yellow orange appearance with a spritzy white head that doesn’t have the best retention. Tons of spices, banana bread, lots of clove, somewhat herbal effervescent aroma that is quite nice. Slightly sweet wheat, very chewy herbal, tangy spicy, clove, nutmeg flavor. Very nice American-made Hefeweizen.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a nice thick, four centimetre tall strong brown coloured head. Aroma of pure chocolate - both dark and milk chocolates with some strong roasted malt, a hint of coffee and spices and a solid nuttiness. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong roasted malt flavour is second fiddle to the pungent and nice chocolate flavours with a great body and slightly syrupy feel. Aftertaste shows some nuts, pit fruits, raisins, roasted earthy malts and of course a lot of chocolate - very nice. Overall, a very good beer with tons of flavour and a rich, syrupy feel that’s perfect for the autumn/winter time - it was even good in the middle of summer, which is when I had it! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle pulled from a Penn Brewing mixed twelve pack, purchased in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 17-July-2013 by Ed - thanks!

Pittsburgher, steelers, pirates, penguins, and then there’s the Rooney’s. From the start a pretty good lager. Decent beery aroma that you would normally find out of a tap. Has body with spice but is not over the top. Civilized yet it never lets you forget there are hops in the world. I presume its yellow, drank from the bottle. Yes, mannered and well done. Could drink a few of these. Good job Penn! Go tri-river! I’m giving an extra 0.1 just because it’s the city of champions!

From tap at Local 44. Pours hazy yellow with a huge white head. Aroma is estery and light fruity. Bitter and light spiced to herbal wheaty into the finish. Ends dry and medium bitter.

The aroma was sweetish and tart citrus and sweettart candies. The flavor was tart, dryish and chalky with notes of sweettart candies and citric acid. Long finish and medium body. Tasted like a belgian pale ale - which in my view is terrible.

On tap at bocktown, nice place. Was very friendly from the start. Big foamy head. Nice clean beery fresh smell. Not flat on the palate but pretty close. Goes down oh so nicely. Very easy, acceptable and friendly. Yes, except for a veryt slight bitter thing on the finsh, this is a very good experience, thanks penn.
