Description
Penn Brewery began brewing craft beer back in 1986, making us one of the earliest pioneers in the American craft movement. We started out brewing classic lagers and German beer styles, adhering to the strict quality standards of the 16th-century Bavarian Reinheitsgebot purity laws. As we’ve expanded our lineup in recent years to include IPAs and other contemporary styles like chocolate and pumpkin beers, we’ve stayed true to our quality craftsmanship, brewing all of our beers by hand with top-tier barley and hops. We’re proud to say that Penn beers have won a total of twenty Great American Beer Festival® and World Beer Cup® medals.

The wait staff told me it was like a Killian’s but reminded me more of German dunkel. Very smooth taste and mellow. A pleasant surprise.

On tap at a wedding. Pours a dark reddish hue, clear, with a thin tan head. The aroma is mostly sweet berries and some light grain. Quite a surprising flavor with tart fruit alongside more common light berries and earthy malts. Not sure what to make of this, it comes in between a Berliner and a light Hefe with fruit, very good. Lots of wheat.

On tap at the wedding. Pours a golden color with a small eggshell head. A nice sweet nose with some caramel. The flavor is a smooth crisp lager with some light bitter hops, more sugary sweetness a bit of biscuit, long lasting flavor in the finish of biscuit and mild hops. Very enjoyable.
