Description
Penn Brewery began brewing craft beer back in 1986, making us one of the earliest pioneers in the American craft movement. We started out brewing classic lagers and German beer styles, adhering to the strict quality standards of the 16th-century Bavarian Reinheitsgebot purity laws. As we’ve expanded our lineup in recent years to include IPAs and other contemporary styles like chocolate and pumpkin beers, we’ve stayed true to our quality craftsmanship, brewing all of our beers by hand with top-tier barley and hops. We’re proud to say that Penn beers have won a total of twenty Great American Beer Festival® and World Beer Cup® medals.

OK, so Rocky Blie couldn’t have his own beer but the rooneys can, go figure. Smooth mild easy going for the most part. Pour is quite dark, enough to be considered a dark beer. Pretty good fun for a lager lover, quite beery but not over the top in any way. Aroma hints like the friendly sweat of a girlfriend. Finish is mild malt or possibly lagerized dull industrial hops. Overall good beer experience.

although not the easiest style to rate very highly, usually mild in flavor and strength, not the most unique color or aroma, this is typical oktoberfest, a little buttery which is nice.

Nice easy fun that is quite different than any of the Penn Brewwery stuff I’ve ever had.

12 oz brown bottle for $1 at Vintage in Boardman. Ubiquitous free and easy pale yellow beer color. Has the aroma of eager refined uncooked bread dough yeast. The taste has hints of enterprising mechanical intuition. A short lived bite is present on the back of the throat. Good happy carbonation on the back of the tongue. Overall, a good lager like well behaved flavor taste and feel.

This beer pours a cloudy yellow-orange color with a medium thin white head that evaporates relatively fast. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus, grainy malt and spice. Medium body with flavors of malt, mildly tart fruit and cloves. The finish is malty with a sweet aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

25th anniversary. Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a yellow-golden color with a huge foamy white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was dry, floral and perfumey. The flavor was dry perfume, windex and pepper with a very bitter and mildly tart and dry undertone with some alcohol showing through. The finish was long, dry and very bitter with lingering perfume and alcohol. Not quite as craptastic as the Kaiser.
