A golden ale with a thick off white head. In aroma, rather strong butterscotch and fruity esters. In mouth, a light malt with light buttery notes, watery and boring. Tasted at CNY brewfest, Feb. 6 2010.

22 ounce bottle courtesy of j12601. Thanks! Pours a deep reddish bronze color with a medium head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of toffee and leafy, resiny, faintly citrus hop notes. Taste is bitter, citrus hops with faint malty notes and a little bit of butter. Medium bodied with a strong, lingering bitterness.

Pours mahogany-tinged black into a thistle. Mocha head with medium retention recedes leaving spot lacing to skim surface. Sweet smoked malt aromas. Thin with dark pit fruit upfront turning to a sweet smoky burn finish.

Tap at Barcade. Pours dark brown/black with a thick, tan head. Nose is all roasted malts and some mocha. Flavor follows through with charming bitter malt character. Rich and almost creamy, this is a very smooth drink.

Hazy light amber color. Light caramel aroma and medium caramel flavor; strong bitterness, above average. More a generic American Strong Ale than a Barley Wine, it doesn’t have the malt flavor, and it has just partially some hop resins. It lacks any depth.

Aroma is light heavy malty, dark roasted, burnt, coffee, overripped raisin. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and heavy burnt malt bitter with a long long duration, and a dry finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20091031]

Pours a brown color with a nice looking tan head. In the aroma there are hops, some caramel, and some weedsmell (yeah I know that is kind of weird way to describe it, but that is the first thing I noticed when smelling it) Taste is hearty and full, with a good amount of hops, but they don’t dominate. They share space with the malts. Nice body and good texture. Good beer and it was cheap at the bar I got it.

Bottle. Medium brown with a slight amber tint. Medium tan, fine head. Amber malt aroma with caramel, chocolate, raisins. Very sweet and biscuity, with caramel and cookies. Warm, medium to full bodied. Finish of sweet malt, then alcohol and hops. Turns bitter in the end, and lasts a while. A pretty enjoyable brew.
