Bottle - Caramel and vinous notes. Cloudy caramel and almost no head. Light caramel and woody notes, very simple and not too exciting for what it claims.

50cl swing top via trade with JTClockwork. Pours a murky, deep amber with a ring of white head. Nose has a lot of orange, pear brandy, booze, a little leathery, malt, honeycomb, a little pine. Flavor has more pine, a hint of soapy water, malt, honeycomb, caramel, orange, some booze, a little brandy, some rum, cane sugar. Completely flat, no carbonation whatsoever. Oily, lightly boozy finish. I think I caught this at a weird point, seems like it may have been real good fresh, could be real good with extra age. As is, it’s a little bit of a tweener.

Location: Draft at one of the Grimaldi's in Hoboken, 3/14/14
Aroma: The nose of this one is light hops and some buttery/imperfect malts
Appearance: It pours a mostly golden color, clear, with an average sized head
Flavor: Taste is much the same, like a slightly off IPA, not terrible and not good
Palate: The body is medium, with an average carbonation, and a slightly dry finish
Overall Impression: I've had this a few times, as Grimaldi's isn't exactly a beer Mecca. I personally wouldn't call this awful. It isn't a good beer, and it is more on the flawed side of the spectrum than the non-flawed side, but it isn't awful.

Unruly, bizarre aroma of latex paint, bubblegum, feet, cedar, and varnish. Clear amber, huge sticky off white head. Foam climbs out of the bottle from what was left behind from my pour. Vinegar and cedar, mold and moss. Ugh, something seems wrong here. It feels like an ambitious effort at greatness but fell short of mediocrity.

Pre-packaged growler on 02/19/2011. Somewhat hazy golden body with a large foamy white head. Sweet pale malt, light grain, and faint citrus aroma. Sweet grainy flavor, pale malt, with some floral and light citrus hops. Medium body with moderate carbonation.

Bottle thanks to a trade! Pours a clear deep amber red with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good sweet grains and caramel with a bit of grass and toffee underlying. Flavor has a good amount of caramel and grains with some toffee and a hint of pine. A bit boozy.

12oz bottle I picked up at Total Wine in Sterling. Pours a hazy, dark orange with some rocky, lacing, white head. Uh oh, aroma makes me nervous; stale cardboard, some dried lemon peel, rotting white grape. Whoa, flavor is definitely infected, strong grapefruit peel, cardboard, nettles. Trashy finish. Bad bottle maybe? Either way, drain pour. ***** Re-rate from December 2014. 12oz bottle pours a hazy orange with some foamy, white head. Nose of garbage, rotting tropical fruit, plastic, dust. Flavor has guava, mild pear, trashy though, hints of butyric acid, pixie sticks. Super carbonated, harsh finish. Worse than the first time I had this. 3-3-5-1-6.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with reddish tint, very small off-white foamy head that disappears almost immediately, caramel aroma, slightly sweet with a hint of cherry, low carbonation, abrupt finish. A bit weak for my taste. --- Beer merged from original tick of Nut Brown Ale on 29 Mar 2013 at 19:22 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 4 | Flavor - 4 | Texture - 4 | Overall - 6.
