Location: Draft at Maxwell's Plum, 7/7/13
Aroma: The nose has some fruity hops to it and some malty notes as well
Appearance: It pours a hazed golden-orange color with a small white head and lace
Flavor: The has a pretty nice hop flavor, some citrus, and some light sweetness
Palate: The body is medium, it has a clean, easy drinking feel, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: This was probably the best thing that I had at Maxwell Plum's. It isn't an amazing IPA or anything, but it is a more than solid example of the style. Nice stuff.

650 ml bottle. Pours black with full whitish head. Aromas of burnt malts, hay, and light coffee. Flavors of heavily roasted malts, bitter unsweetened chocolate, and ash. Very dry. Just the way I expect a Porter is supposed to be - no confusion with a stout on this one.

Bottle - Very sweet, much more than the hop bomb promised. Fruits and earthy hops are present, a bit spicy as well. A reasonably balanced IPA, which is not what is advertised. Still decent though, bitter with some pine.

(500mL bottle from the LC) Pours black with a tiny tan head, little lace. Nose has molasses, roast coffee, dark chocolate, fig, bit of anise lingering behind. Flavour sweet up front, chocolate malts with moderate toast, coffee with sugar, fades into black licorice, bit of wood and then dry green, almost menthol hops with roast at the finish, a little "fresh" at the end. Palate is thinner for the style, with carb that is soft but prickly, and the alcohol is buried. Not a bad RIS, but not quite there.

Pretty good - a well-balanced imperial that exceeded expectations. Aromas of cocoa, vanilla bean, coffee and nut. Nice roast malt as well. Booze well hidden. Good palate, consistency good balance, not too syrupy. Pours black with very foamy head that doesn’t die and pours volatile. Some lacing. Taste is medium bitter with a small note of sourness. Bottle.

Aromas are quite different from most Imperial Stouts I have had. Loads of dark fruits with some spicy hops (or just plain spices ??). The roasted malts are well-hidden in the background. Dark brown colour with red highlights, light-brown head, average retention and some decent rich lacing. Eventually, chocolate, caramel and anise make it out to the nose with hints of nuts. Not sure about the taste as well. Seems like the hop chosen does blend well with the rest. The roasted malt in the finish is nice, but the flavours are all over the place. Seems more like an Imperial Porter to me, but you get use to it in the long-run. Quite a different brew, for this style (kind of revolutionary).

Has a rich but not too sweet flavor. Coffee grains, light licorice, cocoa liquor with some dark chocolate.

This IPA poured a light amber colour with a quick living, off white head. to the nose there are scents of citrus, dough and white bread. First sip was very hoppy with flavours of grassy hops and a little citrus. Very hoppy IPA
