Keg at Craft Beer Co Cov G, 23/05/14. Extremely dark mahogany brown with a moderate light tan covering that retains well. Nose is roast malt, berry fruit jam, earthy cocoa, sublte smoked aroma. Taste comprises light roast, toffee fudge, llapsansuchong, herbal tones, light smoke, cocoa powder. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying close. Decent, all pretty subtle tweaks on the base beer - hit !

Bottle 330ml. [ As Anspach & Hobday The IPA Centennial Chinook Columbus ].Clear medium orange color with a huge, frothy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, caramel, moderate to light light heavy hoppy, orange - citrus, riped fruit, dusty hops, funky, wood, pepper. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter with a long duration, sweet hops, sweet fruit, funky. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20140416]

Draft at the brewery - London. Pours murky, rich gold with a fine, frothy foam that settles into a cream. Good aroma with clean Belgian yeast notes, some juicy, ripe orange, melon, faint grass. Light to medium sweet flavor with lots of juicy hop character, some cleansing minerals, mild bitter lemon rind and grass, slight pale bread. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Lightly warmig to finish with subtle hop resin, bitter grass, light pine, tropical fruits, melon, papaya, tangerine. Quite solid. Juicy, bright and expressive, with present but not dominant Belgian yeast character. Well done.

Keg at the brewery. It pours near black with a small light tan head. The nose is earthy, toast, smoke, black tea, treacle, liquorice and salt. The taste is rich, roasty, earth, salted liquorice, ash, black tea and some astringency with a dry, earthy finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Interesting and fun to try, but I doubt could drink much of it...

5.5% on tap at The brewery. Melissa Cole collab beer. Black beer lasting tan head. Smokey aroma. Good chocolate. Smoke is quite subtle. Very pleasant. Plenty of flavour. Some tannin bitterness on the finish. Good.

Bottle at home in London - picked up from the Kris Beer Emporium. Pours lightly hazy, rich gold with a foamy, white head. The aroma has lots of jammy citrus, dirty pine and lightly toasted pale malts. Medium sweet flavor with lots of sugary, rindy citrus, marmalade, orange, slightly dried berries, mild bready malts, low bitterness, some earth and pine. Medium bodied with average to lively carbonation; it’s a bit over-carbonated. Finishes with more rindy and jammy citrus, dirty pine, toasty bread, light minerals, hints of papaya. Decent overall.

Draft at the brewery - London. Pours rich brown with a frothy, beige head. The nose holds a bit of dark, smoked malt, some dry coco. Light to medium sweet flavor with nice chalky cocoa character, understated smoke, scorched earth bitterness. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes with decent smokey dark malts, earth, gunpowder, balancing burnt wood and earthy bitterness. Great beer but there is little to no discernible tea presence. Perhaps a touch of over-brewed tea astringency, but I might be stretching. Bottom line, this is a great smoked porter.

On tap at the brewery. Black beer lasting tan head. Some chocolate some roast. Unsurprisingly a bit thin. A bit like chocolate ice cream. Really quite roasty.

On Tap at Craft Beer Co, Covent Garden on 11th May 2014. Impenetrably black with thin tan head. Roasty aroma with fruitcake. Spicy and malty in-mouth with black pepper notes. Rich roast and coffee end. Zingy with a lightish body.
