Can acquired as a Christmas present. Mildly hazy golden ale with a bubbly-frothy head. Hoppy with an underlying 'English' fruitiness, and fairly easy to drink. Develops a bitterness in its finish.

Can, from an offy in Nailsworth, Gloucestershire. Opened with a bit of a whoosh. Lively pour sits clear pale gold, with a big white foam. Nose has some sugary grain. Light leafy hop. Taste has some sweetness and a light grassy bitterness. Light to medium body with high-ish carbonation. Short and light bitter finish. Not much happening here really.

Cask at Stroud Brewery. Clear gold, thin white head. Citrusy hops and pale malts on the nose. Taste is citrusy and biscuity, bitter finish. Light-medium bodied. An easy drinking pale to cater to the masses I suppose.

Cask at Sun, Stafford – at 5%. Pours almost black (though it was it a dim light !) with a small beige head and good lacing. Roasted malts and chocolate in the aroma, and the same combination again in the mouth whwere the texture is creamy. Traces of lactose and liquorice too. Finish is quite dry and lsightly bitter. Not bad at all.

Can from Gloucester M5 Services Farm Shop, Gloucestershire. Deeper golden with a head, and also quite deep tasting for its strength, with its double hopping character very evident, as is its pale ale texture and taste. Hoppy finish and slightly dry with a mid to lower bitterness factor and hints of tropical fruit. Has a carbonation.

On tap at Hope and Anchor Bristol. Clear gold colour thin white head smells like a lager with the lager puke not a good lager. it settles down a little. but it's not good. reminds me why stuff like Augustiner Helles is world beating. eek.
