Description
Wolf of the Willows is a brewing company established by Scotty and Renae McKinnon who first landed on the Australian brewing scene after releasing their XPA in 2014.
Wolf of the Willows name came from a story about a Roman naturalist who first identified the hop vine. The hop was described as wild and untamed, twining and choking the willows, taking them down like a wolf to the flock. They were named Lupus Salictarius, Latin for Wolf of the Willows.
Since that 2014 we've hand built our own brewery and taproom in Mordialloc, Victoria and are lucky enough to work with some of the most talented and incredible human beings going around.
We have a passion for producing hand crafted, small batch, modern beers that are distinct in quality, flavour and character. From award winning smashable lagers, through to barrel aged stouts, we're here to make the best beer, no short cuts, no compromise.
Our satisfaction comes from taking raw, natural ingredients and turning them into beers that we love to drink. We take pride in the fact that we're still family owned and operated, and brew all our beers.
This all said, if we can simply provide you with a moment of enjoyment from a pint of one of our humble ales, then our job is done.

Can. Clear pale gold with small white head. Aroma of zesty and boiled citrus, dank tropical fruit, pine, light bread. Very clean, sweet with light hayish malt, boiled oranges, then punchier citrus and pine with brooding tropical/ dope notes before a pretty bitter finish. Not looking to be sophisticated and fine for it.

Can. Opaque brownish yellow with a scant coat of white head that's very soon gone. Aroma of just ripe mango, pineapple & passionfruit, green herbs, grapefruit. Sludgy, low carbonation. Vague, chewed crackerish malt with sweet fruit sharpened by herbal notes that just about stop short of feral. A bit of a jumble.

(Can) Pours hazy golden amber with tiny white head. Great aroma with heaps of tangy fruit and pine. Great mouthfeel with soft smooth medium body and fine carbonation. Taste, as might be expected has plenty of hops throughout the palate. There’s also tangy fruitiness in the start - citrus, guava, mango. There alcohol is apparent towards the end. Enjoyable, if perhaps a bit harsh in the finish.

Can. Very dark brown with a cm of tan head. Big whack of fresh medium roast coffee in the aroma with some roast, chocolate and spices. Medium bodied & a little bit silky - oats, I guess. Barely sweet (yay). Coffee sits back a little with chocolate, oatcakes and light spicy bitterness. Good.
