Description
Wolf of the Willows is a brewing company established by Scotty and Renae McKinnon who first landed on the Australian brewing scene after releasing their XPA in 2014.
Wolf of the Willows name came from a story about a Roman naturalist who first identified the hop vine. The hop was described as wild and untamed, twining and choking the willows, taking them down like a wolf to the flock. They were named Lupus Salictarius, Latin for Wolf of the Willows.
Since that 2014 we've hand built our own brewery and taproom in Mordialloc, Victoria and are lucky enough to work with some of the most talented and incredible human beings going around.
We have a passion for producing hand crafted, small batch, modern beers that are distinct in quality, flavour and character. From award winning smashable lagers, through to barrel aged stouts, we're here to make the best beer, no short cuts, no compromise.
Our satisfaction comes from taking raw, natural ingredients and turning them into beers that we love to drink. We take pride in the fact that we're still family owned and operated, and brew all our beers.
This all said, if we can simply provide you with a moment of enjoyment from a pint of one of our humble ales, then our job is done.

(Can, 0.44l, thanks Arde, at VastActiv, 20230518) The beer poured dark brown and clear. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had wood, dark chocolate, vanilla and cocoa powder. Palate was full bodied and mildly warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, dark chocolate, ash, dark fruits, vanilla and bitterness. Aftertaste was burnt, boozy and bitter. Delicious.

Found at BINGE, about 1300¥. Wolf in the Willows x Commonfolk Roasters First Chair Coffee breakfast stout 6% Deep inky black with a thick rocky long-lasting tan head of foam. Nice roast coffee with chocolate undertones. Medium to light bodied, lighter than I expect from the style with bitter dark coffee flavor. It’s pretty good but I was expecting something smoother/lusher and less raspy dry in terms of carbonation+mouthfeel.

Can. Clear pale gold with small white head. Aroma of zesty and boiled citrus, dank tropical fruit, pine, light bread. Very clean, sweet with light hayish malt, boiled oranges, then punchier citrus and pine with brooding tropical/ dope notes before a pretty bitter finish. Not looking to be sophisticated and fine for it.

Can. Opaque brownish yellow with a scant coat of white head that's very soon gone. Aroma of just ripe mango, pineapple & passionfruit, green herbs, grapefruit. Sludgy, low carbonation. Vague, chewed crackerish malt with sweet fruit sharpened by herbal notes that just about stop short of feral. A bit of a jumble.
