Wolf of the Willows name came from a story about a Roman naturalist who first identified the hop vine. The hop was described as wild and untamed, twining and choking the willows, taking them down like a wolf to the flock. They were named Lupus Salictarius, Latin for Wolf of the Willows.
Since that 2014 we've hand built our own brewery and taproom in Mordialloc, Victoria and are lucky enough to work with some of the most talented and incredible human beings going around.
We have a passion for producing hand crafted, small batch, modern beers that are distinct in quality, flavour and character. From award winning smashable lagers, through to barrel aged stouts, we're here to make the best beer, no short cuts, no compromise.
Our satisfaction comes from taking raw, natural ingredients and turning them into beers that we love to drink. We take pride in the fact that we're still family owned and operated, and brew all our beers.
This all said, if we can simply provide you with a moment of enjoyment from a pint of one of our humble ales, then our job is done.

Can. Clear amber with a cm of almost white head. 3+ Grunty aroma with lots of tenor register fruit (some tropical, kumquat), breadcrust and pine. Full bodied, quite low carbonation. Bready with some sun-dried peach; citrus and some other fruity notes show briefly before firm resinous bitterness takes over. The malt side is a bit jube-like. What's largely supplanted this sort of thing has its problems too but even on a cold-for-Melbourne night it feels heavy largely for its own sake. But it's still pretty good.

A very good imitation of a smores. Loads of marshmallow flavour on the nose, plus biscuit, toast, a little cocoa, coffee and stonefruit. Well balanced palate. Very impressive.

Can. Hazy gold. A bit of grapefruit on nose. Explodes in the mouth. Huge citrus bomb with bang on hop burn. I'm happy...

A brilliant Hazy DIPA. Loads of passionfruit and grapefruit mix with those oats to produce a great aroma. You get some mango in the mouth as well. It's a nicely balanced palate, though the alcohol definitely makes it a sipper.

Can. Dark brown. Nitro thing didn't really work for me (i.e. didn't produce expected pillow effect). I've moaned about cinnamon beers here before, but this one actually gets it right. Loads of chocolate and spices, vanilla and creaminess means this brown ale genuinely tastes like a yummy Scando pastry...

Pours slightly hazy orange/amber with a large, lasting head.Nose shows strawberry, peach, apricot, caramel, pine, resinous hops, and pineapple. Subtle though.Flavours include some tropical fruit before a super herbal, almost peat-like character comes through. There's clean malt sweetness underneath and some lingering pineapple hop notes. The peat character is odd but overall not entirely off-putting.
