Wolf of the Willows name came from a story about a Roman naturalist who first identified the hop vine. The hop was described as wild and untamed, twining and choking the willows, taking them down like a wolf to the flock. They were named Lupus Salictarius, Latin for Wolf of the Willows.
Since that 2014 we've hand built our own brewery and taproom in Mordialloc, Victoria and are lucky enough to work with some of the most talented and incredible human beings going around.
We have a passion for producing hand crafted, small batch, modern beers that are distinct in quality, flavour and character. From award winning smashable lagers, through to barrel aged stouts, we're here to make the best beer, no short cuts, no compromise.
Our satisfaction comes from taking raw, natural ingredients and turning them into beers that we love to drink. We take pride in the fact that we're still family owned and operated, and brew all our beers.
This all said, if we can simply provide you with a moment of enjoyment from a pint of one of our humble ales, then our job is done.

Can. Fairly cloudy orange with a cm of white head. Loud grapefruit, citrus leaf and herbal aroma with some crackers trailing behind. But the malt side has a softness to it whilst remaining fairly clean and it supports the complex citrusy flavours well. The finish doesn't lean much towards dry and is only moderately bitter but it all works well. Calls itself West Coast Haze and that (whether it makes any sense) it is about where it sits. Good.

A big, boozy DIPA that lacks the nuance that you expect from a hazy. Aromas of pine, stonefruitand dry biscuit. A satisfying mouthfeel is the highlight, but it lacks a little complexity. Enjoyable but not amazing.

Aroma of chocolate, raisins and a little glace cherry. A bit of a letdown when tasted, though still a solid sip. There's a lemony bitterness and a bit too little malt backbone.

(Can) Pours murky amber brown with a huge nitro pale tan head. Aroma of spices, cherries, hint of toffee. Medium body and very well carbonated. Taste has a Christmas feel too it. There’s a fair amount of sweetness both toffee malt and something a little more sugary but it is not cloying and there is plenty to balance it. There’s spice and cherries and chocolate notes at the start and some good bitterness in the finish. Unusual and enjoyable if a bit out there.

Can from Grape & Grain, muled to the UK. Cheers bro! Pours black with a tan cap. Aroma: roast, some peat, tobacco, mocha, berries. Taste: moderate sweet, woody, peat, gentle bitterness. Whisky character builds as it warms. Some booze. Medium+ body with tight carbonation.

(Can) Pours opaque golden amber with a tiny white head. Lovely aroma of mango with hints of biscuit malt. Full bodied with bright carbonation. Tart fruity start with mangos and lemon. A very slight hint of biscuit malt in the mid palate. Some peppery notes appear and develop into some pleasant bitterness in the finish. Pleasant drinking.

(Can) Pours hazy amber with short lived white head. Pleasant unusual aroma with orange, pepper, funk. Medium bodied very well carbonated. Unusual, lively taste. Plenty of fruit up front orange, lime, pomegranate, papaya. This is followed by some balancing notes of pepper, with hints of cheese and funk. Steadily growing through the palate is some nice warming chili pepper burn. There’s some bready malt in the background, really only noticeable in the finish. Unusual refreshing interesting.

A stonking big, smooth-as stout. Lots of biscuit, toast, cocoa powder, chocolate, licorice and vanilla. The mouthfeel is velvety, with some strong citrus hops to prevent it from being cloying. The whiskey oak is restrained, but definitely there. I'm really trying to drink this slowly, but not entirely succeeding.
