You get some unexpected wafts when you sniff White Rabbit in your glass. There’s plenty of caramel and toffee, but also resin, pine, tobacco and something that i can only describe as Melbourne Water. Almost like I’m sniffing an ice block. The creamy head unfortunately belies a somewhat watery palate dominated by a very light hoppiness and some late chocolate. Unusually for a dark ale, I recommend this beer for a warm summer’s day.

Bottle in Perth, WA. Brown in colour with slight carbonation. Sweetish, with caramel and a touch of spice, before a short, bitter finish. Forgettable.

I dont rate this as highly as others. Initially carbonation was high but settled down after a while. This was a stubby, may be diff on tap. Malty flavour with a mild bitter finish but it just lacks a bit of oomph.

Bottle. Poured clear straw with good white head. Tangy fruity aroma. Palate was thin and watery, light bodied with medium carbonation. There was little flavour: a hint of honey and a tart finish. Overall, rather disappointing, especially as I like honey ales. This had too little body and flavour. Bland.

From 330ml bottle on 11/9/2010. In the glass, it looks quite similar to a Hoegaarden, with the addition of a ridiculous amount of yeast sediment. Has a mild peach and honey aroma. Peach and honey are also evident in the taste, along with a fair dash of lemon. It’s quite a sweet beer with little bitterness evident. All up, it’s a relatively subtle beer flavour wise. Not a bad effort for the style, and it would be quite sessionable, though it’s not particularly special.

Pours slightly hazy pale yellow with a large head.Nose shows plenty of orange peel, lemon, and coriander with the citrus threatening to overwhelm everything else. Malt is somewhat grainy but is mostly hidden by all the citrus.Flavours are a bit of a let-down, the initial citrus, coriander and light wheat are fine but afterwards you’re left with stale malt, sour-dough and vegetal notes.Carbonation is crazy high!

Bottle. Cloudy straw with a large white head. Aroma is mild and has hay, honey and spices - white pepper more than cloves or coriander. Taste has some lemon, a little wheat sourness, floral honey and spices. Slightly sweet with a dry finish. Like their dark ale, this is a rather softly-spoken beer with some classy depth and character. But - even given that I’m not that keen on this style - it lacks a bit of presence.

From 330ml bottle on 14/6/2010.The aroma is spicy, with some fruity hops. Not similar to any brown brown ale I’ve tried to date, it almost has a dash of APA to it, with dark fruit and a distinct hoppy spiciness dominating the malt. A nice effort.

Pours dark copper with ruby highlights and a large lasting head.Nose shows green, spicy, grapefruit hops with nutty darker malts and hints of chocolate in the background. Neither hops nor malt leap out of the glass, quite a good balance.First up upon tasting the malt seems to lead the way, with more nutty and lightly roasted notes. The hops mainly show up as a green, spicy finish of mild bitterness.Carbonation is too high, creating very dry finish.
