Bottle. Pours a near black color with a medium beige head. A nice light toasted malt nose. Rich, cola, some light roast, vanilla. Very smooth. Solid beer.

Kamakura Beer My Funny Valentine 2017 6% looks like the ABV has gone up... This beer is listed as a dark lager (Tmavy) on Ratebeer. It is a luscious dark brown with a thick beige head. A fruity nutty Graham aroma. Quite full bodied with a velvety mouthfeel and a grainy graham flavor, corn husks, nuts, lightly bitter. A fairly tasty brew that is quite a different take on a Valentine's beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From notes: bottle bought in Kamakura in May 2008, enjoyed August 2008. Orange color. Small head. Aromaβs: malty, caramel malts. Retronasal itβs caramel, light fruity and sweetish. Flavor: light to moderate sweet, caramel, later a hint of bitterness. Light bodied. A bit dry finish with light bitterness.

Bottle. A- Chocolate, brownie batter, subtle dark fruits. A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, tan head. T- Brownie batter, chocolate, slightly roasty, some vanilla. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- More of a sweet stout than a brown ale Iβd say, or maybe a hybrid of the two. Lots of brownie batter taste and aroma going on. Actually quite delightful. Wish Iβd have grabbed some more Kamakura beers. Lots of flavor.

Bottle shared with Kanagawa friends in 2013. Caramel nose with some light grassy hops. Medium to slightly heavy body with lots of caramel sweetness. Somewhat syrupy but not cloying. Light bitterness on the finish.

Bottle shared with friends in Kanagawa in 2013. Deep brown almost black with 2 fingers of foam. Chocolate, toffee and some dark fruit on the nose. Slightly sweet, but rich and full flavored and not cloying. More chocolate cocoa powder as it warms. Feels halfway between a brown and a stout. Good stuff.

Bottle from Kamakura. Orange with a small white head. Bread dough aromas with some grass and vegetable. Fairly sweet on the palate. A slight bit of bitterness on the finish (pepper?). Overly sweet and the nose was kind of weird. Meh.
