Description
Firestone Walker Brewing Company began innocently enough: two brothers-in-law—Adam Firestone and David Walker—debating the subject of good and bad beer. Their search for a decent local ale finally led them to brew their own starting in 1996. The original Firestone Walker brewery was located in a converted shed on the family vineyard, where they experienced no shortage of trials and tribulations. From these humble beginnings was born one of the world’s most decorated breweries.
At Firestone Walker, Beer Before Glory is our mantra for reminding ourselves we do what we do because of the beer. Period. It’s our battle cry to never accept well enough. It’s the high aim for a perfect beer we will never make. Beer Before Glory is our craft, ever honed on the stone of humility.

Bottle at home, from HOTM online, 20/05/2026.
Extremely dark mahogany brown to a lighter shade of black and topped with a lasting khaki head.
Nose is chocolate, bourbon barrel, spice, molasses, dates, figs.
Taste comprises sweet edged chocolate, spice, lactic hint topped with faint vanilla, dried fruit rinds, bourbon kissed.
Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced lick of alcohol.
Tidy easy drinking and approaching sipper ... I'd bill this as a gateway BA beer ... no massive thrills but on point.

Aromas are dark malt, black patent, roast, molasses and unsweetened cocoa. Flavors are similar to nose, adding in some nougat, coffee. Slightly more sweet than bitter with decent carbonation and full body. Pretty good at 5 years.

12 ounce bottle from Tavour. Jet black pour is topped by a creamy tan cap. Aroma of sweet roasted malt, vanilla, toffee, cocoa and oak. First sip is sweet and tangy. Quickly followed by tasty notes of candied pecans, milk chocolate, caramel, oak, bourbon, chocolate fudge. Thick and viscous mouthfeel. Rich and decadent. Try it! Meanwhile, I’ll have another sip…
