Deep dark porter with a thin moka head. Lactic porter with notes of olive brine. In mouth, a good bitter chocolate malt, with light vinous notes, not exactly what I expected but still good. Medium bodied. Tap at the Black Tomato, May 2007.

473 mL can courtesy of matt7215. Thank you Matt Pours dark brown with a thin fizzy head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, nuts and chocolate. Very nutty, grainy taste. Slightly vegetal. Thin to medium body definitely doesn’t live up to the name. Update about three minutes later. The dominant flavor that I couldn’t identify just dawned on me... sunflower seeds.

Small to little yellowish head over dark-chestnut beer. Sweet, aromatic nose with soft cake, some chocolate, (soft) touch of hops all the same, dark (but sweet) malts. Soft chocolate cake - again. Despite the near-absence of head, it feels very carbonated, on the verge of adding acidity to the beer. Sweet, but nowhere cloying; just a tad cola-like. Thanks to the malts, not light bodied; silky texture but heavily carbonated. There’s little more to expect from a brown ale. Thanks, Steve!

Hazed golden beer with an extra thick cremy dirty white head. Aroma of spent yeast and peppery celery, again like a missed homebrew. In mouth, a beer with crisp malt, and the rather herbal peppery hops, with yeasty overtones which receede quickly. Again, an infected beer (April 2006).

Lightly hazed amber ale with an extra thick big bubbled lightly off white head. Lightly herbal malt in aroma. In mouth, a crisp malt with peppery yeastiness, veering on being off, or starting to go into saison land. Not bad...for an infected beer. Medium bodied.

Hazy brown ale with a big bubbled collapsing light moka head. A rather bizarre nutty aroma with sulfuric notes. In mouth, the beer is redeemed by a peaty smokey malt with slight lactic notes, herbal and slightly oily. Medium bodied.

Amber colour. Slightly malty character with some caramel notes, and a hint of brown sugar. On the sweet side for the style. Slightly lime-like hop note at the end.

Light colour. Aroma is slight, with the accent on bread. The flavour is similar - predominant bready malts, fading to wateriness. Sweet. Not the best balanced but I don’t mind that because the malts are nicely done. I just want more of them. This beer’s a tease.
