Description
Located in the heart of Nashville, TN, New Heights Brewing is a small craft brewery that creates ales we’re passionate about and crave—from intensely hoppy IPAs to crisp, clean ales and rich imperial stouts. It all began with a brew kit—that head brewer, Jeff Fountain, received from his wife, Tracey. After lots of corporate hours in cultures highly reminiscent of the movie Office Space, Jeff quit his 9-5 to do what really made him happy—working with his hands and giving back to the community by making great beer.
From his beginnings as a microbrewery volunteer in Carlsbad, CA, to brewer at San Diego’s Mission Brewery, Jeff honed his craft and discovered his own style. Through his job at Mission and his involvement in local homebrew clubs (Mash Heads), Jeff was exposed to some of the best and brightest craftsmen in the industry.
In 2014, armed with years of experience, research, plans, and thousands of backyard brewing hours to unearth the perfect first flight, Jeff and Tracey moved to Nashville to start New Heights Brewing—an ode to their San Diego neighborhood (our logo features the University Heights’ North Park Water Tower in front of the Nashville skyline), and a salute to starting new beginnings, making bold moves, and finding “home” wherever you are.

16oz can c/o BenT. Big, foamy, white head atop a filtered yellow-tan body. Fast rising carbonation bubbles within. Smooth, easy, medium bodied. Doesn't lean into the corn that much, and the filtration keeps it clean. OK.

Kind of a “fuck yeah” IPA, piney and resinous and full of old-school hop vitriol, lots of grapefruit and caramel and lengthy bitterness on the fade. Nice retort to the glut of mediocre to outright undrinkable NEIPAs flooding the shelves. Tasty.

One of two beers to make it home from Nashville. Rich, wonderful aroma. Makes me miss vacay.

Unexpectedly deep and rich for a 3.8% beer, with a heavy toffee-caramel malt base mixed with hints of peat, apple, pumpernickel bread, and a gentle floral bitterness. Finishes with a plain toast flourish. Drinkable as hell.

Caramel, cocoa, toast, plum, and pine, with a moderately bitter finish. Easy-drinking for a 12% monster. Nice.

Tasty and mysterious, more savory than sweet, like a carbonated young balsamic with soy undertones topped by bright berry notes, sharp citric acidity, and a dry, spicy bitterness on the finish. Really seems like a great beer for cooking, but it ain’t bad for drinking either.

Very brut, full of vegetal--almost savory--hop notes, fronted by green onion and mustard and pepper, backed up by citrus and berry, finished off with a dry, mint-laced mildly seltzer-ish finish. More interesting than good, which seems to be the case with most beers of this style. Crazy Mosaic nose is nice, though, as is the crisp, bright texture. Otherwise...drinkable, but lacking.
