Welcome to the rebirth of Charlottesville’s longest-running brewery and pub! South Street Brewery was purchased in 2014 by Blue Mountain Brewery, whose owners have a deep connection with this storied brewing establishment. Two of Blue
Mountain’s founders—Mandi and Taylor Smack—both worked for South Street over a decade ago, Taylor having been the brewer from late 2001 until early 2007. Our company is
committed to maintaining and revitalizing this important Charlottesville landmark and gathering place.
We hope you enjoy our expanded beer offerings, including venerated South Street originals that helped shape the Central Virginia beer scene, as well as new beers reflecting the diversity and experimentation that is the heart of American craft brewing.

Tap at brewery. Nice aroma of citrus and floral hops. Flavor is bubblegum, glue, orange peel, lemon, funk.

Keg at the brewery, 12/21/16. Dark brown, thin brown head, decent retention. Aroma of roasted malt, oats, hints of coconut. The taste is vanilla, coconut, roasted malt, cherries, raisin. Full bodied, mild lingering bitterness, low carbonation, overly sweet.

Keg at the brewery, 12/21/16. Slightly hazy orange, large foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of tropical, earthy, dank hops, pale malt. The taste is tropical fruit, white sugar, pale malt. Medium bodied, lingering bitterness. Nice.

Cask at the brewery. Pours hazy brown with a sewer-froth head. Aroma of pine, cat piss, citrus peel. Flavor is holy pine. Citrus peel, licorice, soap, and more pine. Nice. Higher abv than the regular version, but not known what it is at the moment.

Tap at south street. Orange with a small beige head. Aroma of pine, grapefruit peel. Taste is pine, grapefruit peel and juice. Very citrusy. Quite tasty.

Bottle from Total Wines, Sterling VA. Amber in colour, with a decent, off-white, head. Plenty of floral hops, tangerine fruits, and sweet, biscuity, malts, before a dry, hoppy finish. Good.

On tap at WF FL pours a hazy orange with with ringing white head. Nose has pickled watermelon, salt, green melon grasses, jolly rancher. Flavor follows, candy sweetness, melon, lemon, pickles. Tart finish. Weird but ok.

Keg at the Brewpub, 6/30/16. Murky orange, large, dense foamy head, good retention. Aroma of citrus, mango, pale malt. The taste is mango, papaya, lime zest, pale malt. Medium bodied, refreshing.
