Description
Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales was the first all wild, oak-aged brewery in the United States. We use old-world brewing methods to create traditional rustic country style beers.

Bottle (courtesy of Sammy): Poured a dirty yellow color ale with a huge white foamy head with perfect retention. Aroma of floral malt with a good dose of Brett is exquisite. Taste is almost perfect with a great mix between floral malt, oak and a well balance presence of sourness and tart. The spices that are mentioned on the label (Coriander and grain of paradise) are very subtle and could hardly be tasted though. This is probably the closest thing to Orval that I’ve had the chance to drink. I do wonder when going through some of the other ratings and the description on the label if the Brett and the sourness were intended or not but in any case I am not complaining because this was a great beer experience.

Abbey Dubbel my ass, this is a darker Biere De Garde (if thats even a good category for these beers) like the rest of their beers. Its just brown colored, with an off-white head. Smells pretty much like the Oro de Calabaza but with a it more malt character. Pretty much all the way through its just like the Calabaza. Its not bad but its not a Dubbel.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Hazy pilsener golden with a huge and frothy, white head - shaving foam style. Marked sourish nose. Rather light body with a vague accent. Fruity accent of Brett - perhaps even some banana. Extremely dry. 220406

An unclear orange beer with a lazing white head. The aroma is primarily of citrus, but also with light notes of coriander. The flavor is acidic with primary notes of citrus, but also light spicy notes, where coriander is most dominant.

Hazy brown color. Some aroma of malt. Malty taste, quite sweet in the front, a lot of caramel, balancing bitterness later. Not impressive.

Hazy amber color. Strange aroma, malt, Durian fruit, light vanilla. Good malty taste, with a fruity touch. Very interesting! Complex.

Cloudy blond color. Citrusy aroma (lemon). Thin body, light wheat character, citrusy, dry, very light astringency. Correct bitterness.

Bottled. Hazy amber, brief head. Complex aroma of cheese and raspberries. Tart, yet buttery. Medium sweet with soft mouthfeel and some whiskey-ish oak barrel character. Notes of vinegar, berries and grass. Complicated, ultracomplex and superbly excellent. This beer is so fun!!

Deep, slightly hazy orange with a good, orangeish, persistent head, leaving some lace. End of bottle full of U.F.O.’s. Fruity nose with preserved oranges, faint strawberries, little bit vinous, and a faint, distant spicey spiking (orange peel, cloves, cinnamon bark). More complex than the taste, which is quite dry, spicey. Fruity, with again much citrus, but without any fruitsugars. There’s a retronasal sourness, wry, like crabapples and/or orangezest, slowly dissipating in the throat. This gets more marked warming up. Despite the dryness, there’s a fizzy MF present. Not very much body either. Compared to my only other JPAA, this is where Fuego d’Otoño slightly lacks. Then again, the beer is extremely drinkable. Very pleasing beer, with a great balance, but slightly lacking depth. OTOH, it makes up for one hell of a session ale.
