Reminds me of Hair of the Dog Ruth. The appearance of this beer is world class. Dark, cloudy gold with large pieces of brown sediment and a ginormous white head that lasts a very long time. Strange yeasty, funk aroma. Not quite horseblanket, but it almost smells like gin without the alcohol. Very light hops in the aroma as well. This is a dry beer. There is some lambic like strangeness in the flavor that works very well. Just a touch of lightly bitter hops. Finish is very dry with aged bitter cheese like Saint Nectaire.

Pours with a dark murky brown. The light tan head is very creamy and the tight bubbles remain long after the pour. Small peaks build slowly. A fermenting sour apple aroma comes from this one. The flavor is tangy/sweet sour apple and brown sugar caramel. Tangy dry finish. This turns Unibroue Éphémère Apple into a beer.

Clear medium yellow body with a puffy white head. Lemony aroma with some bread dough and a touch of Belgian funkyness. Spritzy, with some tartness. Sweetness that fades seamlessly into a lingering dryness.

Pours with a tall, pillowy white head over a hazy gold body. Big perfume aroma comes easily of lemon zest and ginger. Spritzy mouthfeel, almost gassy but light. Soft tartness with a balanced underlying sweetness. Try this if you like witbeers. Thanks to Dough77 for sending this one.

Lightly hazed brown ale with a thin creamy off white head. Woody cherry aroma, with barnyard qualities, veering on white wine. In mouth, a nice light flemish sour, with lactic notes, light herbal character, nice and quite interesting. At the Mondiale, June 2006.

Bottle. Sour, musty wheat aroma. Light yellow with giant head and high effervescence. Light dry orange and musty flavor with spice tones in the finish - coriander and vanilla. Probably the driest witbier available - tastewise closer to a saison or lambic. A very nice tasting beer but if you’re expecting a taste like Hoegaarden, you’re going to be disappointed.

Bottle. Musty, barnyard, lemon and pepper aroma. Cloudy orange-yellow color with moderate head. Musty hay flavor - that nice old, dusty flavor that you get from great saisons. High acidic bite. My first foray into Jolly Pumpkin but definitely not my last - comparable to Fantome - a great beer.

Pours deep amber into a tulip with a significant off-white mound of head. Spicy fruit and resin notes. Full and complex with upfront sour fruit and a slightly bitter lasting finish.

Thanks to zathrus13 for the bottle - glowing hazt orange color, with frothy, cappucino-like head - funky, barnyardy aroma, lots of apples and lemon zest - mildly tart flavor - more barnyardy funk in the flavor, but it’s mild, befitting of the beer - light pear, apple, citrus - lingering bread, slight hops, banana - pretty nice.

Dark reddish brwon ale with a light thin off white head. Delightful orange peels and barnyard aroma. Rich lemony malt, brets, and nice barnyard qualities with light acid points. Medium bodied. Sampled with Mtl crew, April 16 2006.
