Description
In April/May 2021 Brouwerij Breugem ended its relationship with Brouwerij Hoop and moved to a new location back in Zaandam. A re-branding was implemented in October 2021, and a number of beers were given new names. Breugem Brewery will also continue as Breugem Bier. For the past few years, Breugem has been a client brewer at Brouwerij Jopen in Haarlem.
In 2023, Brouwerij De Prael Amsterdam Houthavens was taken over, making the dream of having its own brewery and tasting room come true. Part of the production continues to be brewed at Jopen Bier.

Clear deep amber brown colour, good frothy tan head, lasts for a while. Aroma roasted malt, candy sugar, caramel, fortified wine. Roasted taste, medium sweet and bitter, malty, caramel, toffee, grainy notes. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, dry maltbitter aftertaste, rather harsh mouthfeel, okay.

33cl fles van Hoop. Licht wazig-gele kleur, witte kraag.

On tap at Proeflokaal Arendsnest, pours a murky dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma is very fruity, with lots of toasted nuts, red fruits, caramel, and brown sugar. Flavour is fruity and nutty, with toasted nuts, caramel, and red berries. Much fruitier for a quad, with a nice nuttiness. Pretty solid really.

Interesting flavours but flavour may have been tarnished by Hops from other beers. Will try again.

75cl Bottle from Hoop. Slightly hazy golden colour, white head. Aroma of malts, some champagne yeast, dry, hint of apples, hint of grapes. Flavour follows, light earthy, not entirely clean, dry, soft bitterness. Light to medium bodied. Lacks flavour and body for an 8% ABV beer that's also presented as something special.
