Description
Like many of the great stories of American entrepreneurs, our story begins in a garage! The first batch of beer was made in the spring of 2003. It wasn't great, but we drank it and it sparked a passion that eventually morphed into The B.R.I.
More than anything else, The B.R.I. is a gathering place for Craft Beer drinkers in and around Mesa, Arizona. It's Independent and Local. It's the third place, not home or work, but the place you want to be with your family, your friends and a pint of your favorite beer!
The Brew pub hold's a special place in our heart. It's the town hall. It's church to some. It's where the revolution began! For hundreds of years, people have went to their local taverns, pubs or breweries and now our brewery and restaurant is part of that Craft Beer history in Mesa.

Poured up on tap at the brewpub where it exhibits a clear gold body that has a wafer thin copper to red hue and supporting a thin bright white head. The aroma offers up banana, plum fruit, some spicy yeast and a bit of a spicy coriander sensation. The taste delivers raisin and plum and then a growing plum fruity sweetness to midway thatβs cut nicely by a modest fruity tartness. Behind the plum kind of raisin sensation is a bit of banana and spicy saison like yeast. Pretty tasty where a pleasing balance is achieved between the treatment and the beer.

Poured up on tap at the brewpub where it exhibits a clear gold body that supports a thin near white head. The aroma offers up spicy black pepper, coriander spice, banana and some mild peach fruitiness in the background. The taste delivers black pepper, sweetened coriander spice, a Belgian spicy yeast kick and then some modest fresh peach fruit. To midway it picks up a small island of sugary sweetness that cuts into the peppery and spicy notes to provide some additional balance. Pretty nice but the peach could be more forward.

Poured up on tap at the brewpub where it exhibits a mildly opaque gold body that supported a quick thin near white head. The mild aroma offers up a sense of sweet apple, wheat and a faint lemon like note. The taste delivers a decent pucker of acidity that gets into slivers of sweet apple and pear like esters. Toward the finish it picks up a pleasing wheat like sensation that does nothing to tame the acidic bite but does provide a counter to better round out the experience. Pretty nice.

On cask at Real, Wild & Woody Beer Festival, pours a cloudy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of brett upfront, followed by hazy mangos and light hop resins. Flavour is along the same lines, with lots of brett funk and mango juice, followed by resinous hop oils. Bitter, earthy and fruity. A little muffled but it works.

On tap at The Beer Research Institute, pours a hazy orange amber with a small white head. Aroma brings out piney hops, some resins, and bready caramel malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with a lovely hop resinous quality, some floral notes and bready caramel notes. Well-constructed, clean and full of punch. Very good.

On tap at The Beer Research Institute, pours a hazy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is subdued, with wheat and biscuity malt. Flavour is dry and wheaty, with a slightly stale cardboardy quality, bready malt and vegetal notes. Pretty weak stuff; subpar for these guys.

On tap at The Beer Research Institute, pours a hazy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is very fruity, bringing out Belgian yeast, loads of fruity esters and some cereal. Flavour is along the same lines, with lots of fruity esters, stone fruits, and biscuity malt. Belgian yeast gives off quite a sweetness. Totally inauthentic but solid nonetheless.

On tap at The Beer Research Institute, pours a peachy pink with a small white head. Aroma brings lots of crisp fruit skins. Flavour is crisp, with fruity pear skins and soft wheat notes underneath. Nice incorporation of the pears - crisp and dry. Solid.

On tap at The Beer Research Institute, pours a clear pale golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of piney hops, some herbal notes and biscuity malt. Flavour is robust, with loads of resinous hops, lots of hop oils and some sticky sweetness as residual. A little boozy but still lovely as a slow sipper. Excellent.

On tap at The Beer Research Institute, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma is quite musty, with some phenols and strange miscellaneous fruity esters. Flavour is harsh, with notes of pears, phenols and sweet Belgian yeast. A mess. Not offensive but just uncoordinated and all over the place.
