Second IPA rated of the night and my first from this brewer. Pours a clean amber colour with and off-white head that is big, has good retention and creates lacing all-around. Carbonation in this one is a bit more active (again with tiny bubbles). The scent though is not hoppy, but grainy. If you sniff enough, you can trace hints of grassy hop hidden in the bush. Taste of caramel malt with some fruit, and even harder to find the hop in this department. Wet mouthfeel, but medium-bodied. Not really bitter, and with the grain flavour in the aftertaste. Nothing wrong here, but laking in the hop section. An IPA that is above the Keith’s IPA but less bitter than most average ones (like the Simple Malt IPA I just rated before).

Has a beautiful dark brown-amber body with small bits of carbonation, as well as a huge dark beige head. Soft aroma of chocolate, espresso hazelnut. Flavour is coffee and hazelnut with a slightly weak palate. Still, it’s a pretty good stout.

Has a faint malt aroma, with slightly syrupy sweetness. Nice dark amber body with a modest yellow-white head. Flavour is wood, grass, barley. It has a sharp wet finish with no syrupiness at all. Great for the alcohol content. It’s a very nice strong beer.

Bottle: Poured a hazy dark burgundy color ale with an average size foamy head with good retention and limited lacing. Aroma of sweet malt with dry oak notes. Taste is more dominated by oak and light vinous notes then I was expecting. The sweet malty notes from the based beer are still perceptible. Body is surprisingly more thin then the based beer with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Interesting but I won’t seek again considering the price tag and the fact that the original beer is much better.

Bouteille 500ml.
