A golden blonde ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, a sweet cream corn with maple notes, and light bready notes. In mouth, a sweet cloying with weird maple solvent notes, oily mouthfeel, light vanilla, not so good, alcohol warmth, burned character. On tap at Festibiere de Gatineau, May 26 2012.

Draft: Poured an amber color ale with a medium size foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of lightly caramelized Belgian malt with some maple syrup finish. Taste is also a solid mix between some Belgian caramel malt with some clear notes of maple syrup which are very well balanced and don’t come out too sweet or too woody. Body is about average for style with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Very well brewed and one of my favourite maple based beer which is or isn’t saying a lot since most of them are quite atrocious.

Draft: Poured a light amber color ale with a medium size foamy head with light retention and some lacing. Aroma of light citrus and piney notes with light dry caramel notes. Taste is a mix between some dry caramel malt notes with some citrus and ;iney notes which are quite refreshing. Body is about average with good carbonation. Doesn’t really stand out but well drinkable with medium hoppy notes.

Draft: Poured a black color stout with a small dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of coffee is dominant but not overly dry with some roasted malt notes. Taste is a great mix between some dry roasted malt with some good notes of coffee with light black chocolate notes. Body is full with good carbonation. Well brewed with great balance to avoid too much dryness.

Bottle from Wine and Cheese in Clayton, MO. Pours dark and ruddy, tho transparent, with a 2 finger creamy beige head. Aromas of fair amounts of spice, a hint of honey, and some caramel. It smells much better than I can describe. A very nice aroma. Full bodied. Flavor matches the aroma, but there’s a hint of cola as well. It’s mildly sweet, somewhat roasted malt, and there’s some nice level of hop. This is no simple amber ale. It finishes a bit mixed for sweet and bitter, somewhat spicy, and just a little astringent. I want to say dry, but it’s not quite there, tho it seems dry off and on. Very nice beer.

Bottle: Poured a deep dirty and hazy brown color ale with a large light brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of dry caramelized malt with some hint of oak. Taste is more straightforward then I was anticipating with notes of dry caramelized malt and light oak notes with very little other characteristics that are easily noticeable. I though this beer was somewhat too dry for my taste with not enough sugar to sustain the body. The oak-aged process also didn’t seem to help and made this beer even dryer.

Bottle from Wine & Cheese in Clayton,MO. Pours dark mahogany with a creamy/bubbly/frothy beige head. Aroma of medium dark fruits with some florality and a hint of miele. Med body. Flavor is awesome. There’s ripe light pitted fruit, a touch of treacle, and a lot of complications. And some florality. It’s not exactly dry, but it’s not all that sweet. Heat isn’t even in the equation. Maybe it finishes like cola. I’m sure the sweet is from honey, cause there’s a residual mouthfeel of honey. Anyway, this is pretty neat stuff, whatever it really is.

Bottle from Brewery Creek, Vancouver
Dark brown color, unclear, with small head. Nice aroma of malt, caramel, elegant, with a hint of apples and spices (nutmeg). Strong body, round mouthfeel; it has good flavor of caramel and malt, with moderate sweetness and relatively low bitterness; the alcohol is well hidden, there is just a gentle warmth in the end, light liquorice, together with a seducing chocolate trace.
Very good; not vibrant, but well balanced.
