Can pour from Friar Tuck, Crestwood. Appearance is opaque pale yellow (somewhere between grapefruit and orange juice) with no sparkle, thin ring of off-white head. Aroma is pleasant white grape and mild yeast. Taste follows aroma to a T. Mouthfeel is light side of light-to-medium bodied with thin, frothy texture, average carbonation and finish as taste with late mild bitterness. Overall, this showcases the Vic Secret but could be a bit stronger and there isn't too much else there. This would be good for the novice beer drinker who typically likes wine.

Pour is a ugly looking murky dark hazy orange with a large white head. Aroma turns things around with a decent orange blossom and honey malt. Flavor is more orange citrus with some chalky malt and there is a little heat from the alcohol. The aroma held some promise but the flavor fell a bit flat and this did not hide the alcohol well.

Sampled from the tap at GTMW 2019. Pours a slightly hazy yellow gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has dank citrus, earthy grass and a light sweet grain backbone. Flavor has dry citrus, dry grass, earthy grain and some sweet bread backing.

Pours black from the can. Beige, creamy head. Aroma of coffee latte, toast, milk chocolate. Taste is bitter, full of coffee grounds and roasted grains. Just a hint of tartness. A milk chocolate sweetness lingers at the end. Body is medium to full, carbonation is mild. Pretty good.

16 oz can from Church Street, March 2022. With a fuller sized sample, I can got into this a little further. A nice golden to brassy color, filtered to leave no haze. There's some eggshell foam that dwindles away quickly. The smell has some caramel and toasted malt to it, not too sweet. The taste is what I keeping calling beer as I remember it, but just much more of it. Toffee in the malts, with sweetness held in check by your basic German hop load. Hops themselves bring in a bit of light spice. A solid, and filling German style beer, ideal for springtime and Lenten fasting. Taster at Binny's. North Riverside, April 2019. Rating: 6-3-7-3-14. I like to start with break from the usual hazy and milkshakey IPAs, and this little bit of malted joy is just what I'm thinking of. Noticably richer in color than the usual pale lager, with a deeper malt nose. Taste is well toasted malt, no pilsener notes or anything, just nicely balanced with malt keeping a note of noble hops to the sidelines.

Sample at the taproom. Brown-black pour with a medium thin beige head that recedes quickly to a film. Sparse patches of lace. Malt, chocolate and oak aroma. Medium body with flavors of chocolate malt, coffee and a touch of bourbon. The finish is oaky with a malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

Sample at the taproom. Black pour with some brown around the edges, and a medium thin beige head that recedes quickly to a dense film. Sparse patches of lace. Aroma of malt, chocolate and coffee. Light to medium body with flavors of roast malt, chocolate and mild coffee. The finish is roasty with a chocolate malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

Sample at the taproom. Clear orange-bronze color with a medium frothy white head that diminishes slowly to a film. Sticky strings of lace. Aroma of hops, yeast and malt. Medium body with flavors of floral hops, fruity yeast and grainy malt. The finish is mildly bitter with a short fruit and hop aftertaste. Decent overall.

Sample at the taproom. Clear pale copper color with a thin ivory white head that recedes quickly to an outer ring. Short strings of lace. Aroma of fruit, mild hops and malt. Medium body with flavors of fruity hops, pine and grainy malt. The finish is mildly bitter with a short piney hop aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

Sample at the taproom. Clear straw-gold color with a medium thin white head that evaporates quickly to a film. Spotty lace. Fruit, yeast, spice and malt in the nose. Yeast, fruit, malt and spice in the nose. Medium body with flavors of herbal yeast, banana, clove and grainy malt. The finish is yeast and malt. Decent overall.
