Description
We are Fyne Ales, a family-owned Scottish farm brewery. When our brewery was founded in 2001, the goal was not only to make the best quality beer, but to bring jobs, industry and tourism to our community and our quiet corner of rural Scotland. We’ve continued brewing in this spirit ever since. Drawing water from the hills and brewing in converted farm buildings, we create modern, ambitious and progressive beers in a wide variety of styles.

Cask @ Bon Accord. I was quite keen on getting this one, and had very high expectations. Long story short: it’s a decent beer, but not too spectacular. Black colour, tan head. Nose is citric, bit of roasted malts. Flavour is roasted malts, fairly hoppy, citrus, pine. Slightly roasty and fairly bitter finish.

500ml Bottle (Bishops Arms, Vasagatan, Stockholm) - Brown with red tinges. Fruity and hoppy aroma with notes of grapefruit, hops and caramel. Fruity, hoppy and slightly chocolatey taste with notes of grapefruit, marzipan, dried fruit and caramel. Nicely balanced and tasty, although I don’t think it’s a mild which it’s currently listed as on this site.

On gravity at the Factoberfest, the Tobacco Factory, Bristol 17/09/2011. Near black with a slight, off-white head. Aroma of sour cherries, bitter chocolate and roasted malts. Flavour began with some berry fruit sweetness, before more chocolate, a touch of liquorice and tart finish. Excellent.

Moderately sweet and mildly bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a smooth carbonation. Cara-malt character with spicy and slightly fruity hops; moderately dry and slightly bitter and fruity hoppy finish with caramel in the aftertaste. Decent. 03.IX.11

(bottle) Clear, pale golden colour with a blond medium-sized foamy head. Fruit-accented hoppy aroma with distinctive notes of grapefruit and a slightly zesty touch. Bitter flavour, light bodied with a crisp carbonation. Dry mildly malty taste with a good dash of citric hops, including a tinge of exotic fruits; dry and bitter hoppy finish with loads of fruity aroma hops. Very pleasant and moreish, not only on a hot summers evening. 03.IX.11

(bottle) Clear, ruby brown colour with a beige mid-sized foamy head. Dark malty, slightly roasted aroma with hints of cacao and caramel, accompanied by mildly fruity and herbal hops. Mildly sweet and slightly bitter flavour, light to almost medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Roasty malt-character with caramel, dark chocolate and liquorice, again accompanied by delicately fruity and herbal hops; dry-ish sweet-bitter finish with rounded roasty malt and subtle fruity and spicy hops. Another gem from Argyll. 02.IX.11
