Pours deep brown into a Trappist glass. Very little head. Pit fruit aromas. Figs, prunes and dates from front to back. Lasting finish.

Bottled at Monk’s Café,Stockholm. Hazy dark amber, dense head. Yeasty nose with a lemony tang - typical ’t IJ style. Floral and grassy with a body that is slimmer than expected. Fruity and vinous with some caramelly malt and striking resiny bitterness.

Bottle. An unclear, cloudy orang-golden beer with a small, off-white head. Small floaties as well. Evident bretty aroma with fruityness, yeast and sourness. A slight alcohol touch as well. There’s also a little rubbery note, but so hidden it doesn’t disturb at all. Medium to full body, sweetness in the background, sourish and effervescent. The flavor is fruity, sourish and funky with yeast and barnyard. Quite bitter finish, but there’s no problem finding the sourish, barnyardish flavors, and it’s quite fruity as well. Bottle, 33cl. It pours a hazy dark orange body with a diminishing, foamy beige head. Yeasty, sourish, barnyeardish and fruity aroma with a little spicy touch and some weak dried fruits. Fruity, sourish, barnyardish aroma with yeast, spices and some malt in the background. A little touch of caramel and some chocolate as well. Full-bodied, effervescent and a bit tongue-twisting from the brett. Long, sourish, bretty finish with a balancing bitterness and sweetness. Yet another beauty from ’t IJ. (080426)

Bottle. A golden, hazy beer with lots of floaties and a beige head. Fruity aroma with some spices, pale malt, yeast and a funky sourish, barnyardish touch adding a nice dimention to it. The same sourish, yeasty and barnyard is found in the flavor, only more evident than in the aroma. Quite fruity and bitter too. Full body, quite effervescent. Sour and fruity finish in a nice blend. There’s alcohol evident, but it’s well hidden for a 9% ABV beer, but it gives some warmth in the mouth. Overall, this is a beauty. (080426)

Bottle, Gollem, Amsterdam, Pours a slightly cloudy golden colour with a decent head and some floaters..Lots of fruit in the aroma. Spicy and sweet taste. Smooth and very full bodied. Long and strong, but the alcohol is far from overwhelming. Clever stuff., another please...!

Bottle. Creamy white good mostly lasting head. Dark yellow colour. Powerfull heavy hoppy and yeasty aroma. Strange heavy bitter soapy and acetic flavor. Average finish. Oily palate. I really dont like t IJ yeast, sorry.

(3/16/08) Bottle at Arendsnest in Amsterdam. Hazy red with a big, slowly-diminishing, off-white head. Aroma of some malt, wood and fruits – quite nice. Sweetish flavor with some malt, a bit of caramel, some oaky sour notes and some nice fruitiness. Medium-bodied. Very pleasant.
