Keg at Triumph PHL, 30/11/13. Hazed golden amber with a good sized off white head. Nose is earthy hoppage, bitter orange, light grapefruit, straw. Taste comprises orange pith, earthy hops, toasted malt, orange sherbet, tangy citrics. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light hop bitterness in the finish. Ok IPA but nothing I’d be tearing back to !

Tap at Triumph Philly, 30/11/13. Lightly hazed chestnut brown with a good sized beige head. Good lacing follows on this one. Nose is toffee, biscuit malt, light spice, toffee apple, brown bread. Taste comprises bready malt, earthy tones, biscuit base, bready malts, light sugar. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry finale with a little grass laden bitterness. So so Scottish tosh - at least it didn’t have a stupid kilt/caber/och aye name attached to it !

Cask at Triumph, Philly, 30/11/13. Chestnut/mahogony brown with a moderate light tan covering that retains well. Nose is cake mix, brown sugars, brown bread. Taste comprises light nutty strains, biscuit malt, toffee, bread dough. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, good cask conditioning - this beer is ideal for cask dispense and a keg version would be so much blander. Ok cask affair, bitter come brown - could even pass for a mild.

Location: Draft at the Brewpub, Princeton, 11/17/13, as Small World C&C Stout (listed at 5.7%)

Aroma: The nose is full of dark coffee along with some roasted and burnt malts
Appearance: It pours a dark brown color with a smooth and creamy brown head and heavy lace
Flavor: The flavor is heavy coffee, not particularly sweet, but quite roasty and a little burnt
Palate: This one is very smooth and creamy on the mouth with a pretty much flat carbonation
Overall Impression: I thought this was a pretty solid beer. It has a really nice, smooth, almost cask like feel to it, but it is served very (probably too) cold. Nice beer for fans of coffee fronted stouts, and very drinkable at around 5%.

Location: Draft at the Brewpub, Princeton, 11/17/13

Aroma: The nose is a touch dull, with pumpkin spices, malts, bread, and some mild fruit
Appearance: It pours a clear darker orange color with a head and some good lacework
Flavor: The spice comes out more in the flavor, but the components are pretty similar to the nose
Palate: The body is medium, it drinks easily, and has a mild dryness to the finish
Overall Impression: This is an alright example of a pumpkin spice beer, but it just feels a touch on the dull side, especially in the nose. Overall though, it is very drinkable.
