@Philly-on tap-pours a retaining tan head with some lacing. Color is mahogany. Aroma is dark malt-peat, slight sweetness, some Irish Red/Brown Ale metallic, musty. Taste is dark malt-peat/some caramel/chocolate, secondary dry/slightly earthy bitter hops. OK effervescence, mush of it on the tip of the tongue then soft carbonation.

Sample at the Princeton location: This interesting beer pours a dark brown color with a ruby halo. Medium beige head that has pretty good retention. Aroma of rye and pumpernickel bread (In German, pumpern means to break wind and Nickel means goblin - farting golbin?), plus some grainy malt. Medium-bodied with a strong rye character. Flavors of anise, malt and light hops are also present. The finish is bready with a lingering rye and hops aftertaste. Overall this is unique and very enjoyable.

Medium, soft body with earthy malt and muted hops flavors. The finish is round and sweet with a short malty aftertaste. Not very impressive overall.

Sample at the Princeton location: This beer is a clear golden-amber color with a medium thin ivory white head that has good staying power. Patchwork lacing on the glass. Moderately hoppy aroma with touches of citrus and pine. Medium-bodied and crisp and somewhat hoppy. Some pine and malt in the flavor. The finish is dry with grapefruit and hops flavor that lingers a bit. Straightforward and above average overall.
