Dry, but bold, not smokey as advertised. But i could get some chewy bacon meaty taste. Sharp and crisp, super well balanced. Arendsnest Amsterdam

16 November 2019. At 4de Gentse Bierquiz. Cheers to Anke & Pieter! Hazy black with a lasting, thin, frothy, tan head. Aroma of earth, toast, milk chocolate, raisin, fig, vanilla cream, black pepper. Taste is malty sweet chocolate, bread, dates, going over nuttiness, bitter toast & bittersweet mocha, sourish undercurrent, touch umami too. Dry, toasty finish, bit weirdly herbal with lingering coffee, cream & coffee liqueur alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. Not the monster it would pretend to be, but a nicely balanced RIS anyway.

On tap at Proeflokaal Arendsnest, pours a hazy copper golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out overripe stone fruits, resinous hops and toasted caramel. Flavour is somewhat muffled, again with the overripe stone fruits, earthy resinous hops, and caramel. Not the most cohesive but it works decently enough.
