We are brewery Zuyd, a craft beer brewery from the south of the Netherlands. Maastricht. Since 2016, we have been producing the most challenging beers in town here, in the cellars of the Tapijn Barracks. And all this with one goal: "to show how cool and tasty craft beers from KLimburg can be". Because let's face it ... with that Burgundian character from us, you expect beautiful beers.
In the beginning, the Zuyd beers were not brewed in our own brew kettles. But at our friends at Brouwerij Maximus. In the year 2017, we looked for a location to brew as one of the first breweries beers on Maastricht ground. Finally, after a long search. We found in the cellars of the old canteen of an army barracks named the ‘Tapijn Kazerne’ a perfect place to brew.
In 2019 a new core range was born and the start of a ‘Special range’ the ‘Zuyd Craft series’.

0.33 l bottle from 'Speciaal Bier Winkel', best before January 2020. Slightly hazy, dark amber with a medium large, frothy, stable, off-white head. Sweetish, gently fruity, slightly resiny and a bit floral aroma of orange jam, dried apricot and some pine. Moderately sweet, slightly bitter, gently fruity, a bit resiny and a little floral taste of caramel, orange jam, dried apricot and hints of pine, followed by a short, moderately bitter, slightly resiny finish. Medium to full body, smooth and slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Decent, definitely well-made but not as hoppy as expected.

Bottle @ home. A bit unclear dark orange color, average sized white head. Aroma is malts, wheat, weirdly enough I get raisins. Taste malts, again lightly something that reminds me lightly of raisins, a bit sweet and a bit bitter. Very weird. How is this any sort of pale ale? It tastes like a low ABV Barleywine to me. Not bad, just weird and definitely not what you'd expect based upon the label.

Bottle shared with Inoven. Hazy orange color, average sized off-white head. Not a lot of aroma, just malty, maybe lightly hayish. Flavor is malts, lightly hops but not the fruity ones, a light sweetness in the distance but mainly malt bitter. Ok.

Flesje gedeeld door Benzai. Weinig aroma iets moutig. Smaak is zacht, zoetig en toch fruitig, de nasmaak daarentegen heeft een zachte hoppigheid.

Hazy pale amber colour, good frothy off-white head, good retention, light lacing. Aroma toasted malts, caramel, dark fruits, brown sugar, bit treacle. Taste medium sweet and light bitter, malty, dark fruits, toffee, light treacle. Sweet finish with light bitterness and some peppery notes. Medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation, though on the thin side a decent red ale.

Hazy pale amber colour, huge soapy off-white to white head, dissipating slowly, heavy lacing. Aroma pale malts, light pomelo, pine, bit resinous. Mild taste, medium sweet and bitter, malty, light fruity, pine, bit of resin; sweetbitter aftertaste, light spicy notes. Medium body, oily texture, lively carbonation; middle of the road but well-made, quite quaffable
