Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was a dark amber color almost brown but not quite. Film of a coated white head. No lace.
The aroma had some caramel/toffee malty sweetness up front. Light earthy spice. Some grassiness.
The flavor yielded to the sweet malts. Light sort of malty aftertaste hitting the finish in the same manner.
The feel was between light and medium on the body with a fairly sessionable quality about it. Soft carbonation and the ABV felt fine.
Overall, decent brown ale. A bit more sessionable than expected but definitely could be construed as a \"session brown ale.\"

Served in a mug, the appearance was a stuffy black color rimmed with a finger’s worth of white foamy head. Some stringy lace.
The aroma speaks of some roasted coffee beans, some milk chocolate and then just a touch of maple. I had to really let this one warm up, but eventually the raisin comes out, took a while but I got it.
The flavor yields to the sweetness of the blend of the previously mentioned aromas. I would say this blended fairly nice. The aftertaste is what was superb - when maple blends with raisin and porter qualities, well damn, man, that’s something real special! Nicely blended finish as well.
On the palate, this one sat almost medium bodied, but alas, yes, a bit under, thus creating a fair sessionability about it. Maple helps to smooth things out but the roasty porter qualities help grind any possible cloying qualities. Feels damn good.
Overall, this may be the absolute best beer Vermont Pub ever did, hoping they make this a regular in their lineup.

Poured into a tulip, the appearance was a golden orange color with a finger’s worth of white sticky head. Dissipates fairly slow. Then some lace.
The aroma had a ton of caramel malty covered grapefruit bits with some honey.
The flavor keeps to the sweetness of the blend of grapefruit to malt body. Smooth yet heavy sort of malty aftertaste with the same finish.
On the palate, this one sat almost medium bodied, just a tad under with a mostly sipping quality about it. Good carbonation balancing against the bitterness and then a sturdy and agreeable ABV from what the brewer projected.
Overall, tis good, I’d have again.

Poured into a mug, the appearance was a semi-transparent amber color with a slight transparency about it. Carbonation could be seen rising at a moderate pace. Slight stringy lace.
The aroma had some sticky caramel/toffee malts up front, fairly sweet. Just a touch of some bready/yeastiness. Light nuts underneath.
The flavor had a decent blend of the nutty malts to the caramel/toffee malts, mainly staying sweet, but also not exactly pulling much else into the balance. Malty sweet aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. ABV felt appropriate and had that feel that made me almost want to crush this.
Overall, pretty good amber lager, worthy of having again. And nice to have this time of the year. Good call, Vermont Pub for having this as a Spring seasonal.

On tap at the brewpub.
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was ruddy golden yellow color with a slight transparency about it. Carbonation could be seen rising to fill a finger’s worth of white foamy head, quickly dissipates. Slight stringy lace.
The aroma had some sweet malty biscuit/breadiness, light grassy hops and that’s about it.
The flavor copied the aroma pretty much spot on, it’s sweet. There’s no aftertaste and has a quick malty finish.
On the palate, this one sat about light bodied with a crisp sweet sessionable quality. ABV really doesn’t seem like what’s stated.
Overall, they said they brewed this with snow from Mount Mansfield. I like the idea but didn’t really change anything, to be honest.

Poured into a nonic pint glass, the appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a huge rocky off white foamy head. Seemed to take forever before it died off, but when it did, a great amount of clingy lace wound around the glass.
The aroma had a big roasty maltiness up front and then coffee and chocolate coming through in a well blended sweet to bitter way.
The flavor had a nice sweet milk chocolatey flow, bold and up front bringing the coffee and roasted malts in very nicely too. Smooth creamy milk chocolatey aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a good smooth sipping quality about it. Mild carbonation.
Overall, nice imperial stout that I would have again.

Poured into a pint glass at the brewery, the appearance was pure black in color with a small white foamy head. Subtle lace.
The aroma had some harsh grapefruit bittersweet hops up front, fairly determined to try and lean towards the bitter side but still embracing a nice sweetness underneath.
The flavor was basically the same with a semi-abrupt little bit of black licorice to lend a sly little kick of spice. Mostly balanced in the aftertaste. Mild sectioned off spicy to sweet finish, weird.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a decent flow from the spice kick to the sweet smooth, really nicely done balanced sort of feel to it.
ABV felt good.
Overall, so is this supposed to be the standard of Black IPA’s, if so, thank you Greg Noonan. I hope I gave you the service you deserve by having this.
