Aroma: The initial whiff is fresh and hoppy, but that dissipates quite quickly. Once that initial whiff passes, the nose is more toasty, there's bitter pine, some light butter, and a touch of caramel.
Appearance: A cloudy caramel amber colored beer with a bubbly beige head and spotty lace
Flavor: The taste is fairly dry with a light sweetness, pine, floral, earth, and a little citrus
Palate: It is medium bodied and it has a fairly long finish
Overall Impression: Overall, this beer was alright. I was honestly expecting better when I first opened it, so I'm a little disappointed, but it isn't bad either. It's exactly that, not great, not bad, just sort of eh...

Deep amber caramel with a white head. Malty, sweet, light spice in the aroma. Flavor has a much stronger spice than the aroma let on. Quite malty, light caramel, some toasted malts, with light alcohol. Medium bodied and works well with the flavor. Really a nice winter beer.

Sampled on draft at D’s in Monroeville this beer poured a dark caramel-amber color with a medium sized foamy beige head that lingered and produced good lacing. The aroma was light caramel, orange, vanilla and nutmeg. The flavor was tangy, bitter and fruity with notes of caramel, orange, bread and nutmeg. The finish was long and tangy with notes of orange and caramel lingering. Medium body. Ok.

Appearance: It pours a slightly cloudy brownish-amber color with a small beige head
Flavor: Much like the nose, but with more sourness to the grapes, plus funky yeast and earthy hops
Palate: It feels somewhat thin, is medium bodied, slightly creamy, and has a fairly long duration
Overall Impression: Well this was not what I was expecting at all. I figured this would probably be one of those caramel malt from Amber ales, but it certainly wasn't. I guess I should have read the bottle! Well, this was a nice surprise actually. This was much more interesting. It turned out to be a fairly solid beer.

From a bottle. Smells almost like an IPA with its floral sweet hops. I must say tho, it does smell quite attractive. Looks pale yellow a little darker than a lager. No head and very little indication of CO2. Yes, quite bitter on the tongue, too. It definately borders on IPA territory. Even tho there is no indication of CO2 visibly, it has a decent amount of it, something that many IPA do not. Long bitter IPA linger. Mouth coating chewing on grapefruit green rinds. Oh yes, lasting long bitter finish. I know this is listed as an APA but I bet a few of you would call this an IPA. Number shnged from 1.9 to 2.2 in 2011 when I had it from a draft.

Clear golden with a mid-sized white head. Not a strong aroma, but some grain, light sweet malt, spicy hops, and light herbal notes. Spicy hop flavor, toasty malts, with some grass hops, too. Not a flavor powerhouse but an easy drinking, session ale. Excellent alternative to BMC.

Firkin at Standard Tap. Dark with a mid-sized head. Aroma has lightly roasted malt, earthy hops, some caramel, grass, nutty, too. Flavor is along the same lines, with the toasty malts sitting right next to the hops. Has a mildly dry, bitter finish. Low carbonation due to the serving style. A very nice beer.

Draught at the P.O.P.E. Hazy golden with a thin white head. Aroma is relatively spicy, with light banana, and a touch of yeast. Easy drinking with light wheat, some banana, sweet malts, too. Nothing amazing but easy and refreshing.

Some Philly case store: Pours a hazy orange pale, with a quickly dissipating white head. Aroma is spicy, with the requisite banana and spice notes. This witbier is a little on the bitter side and that is ultimately one of its key differentiating factors. A sour note here and there. The coriander is certainly there as one reviewer noted. Ultimately, this beer doesn’t really have a shortage of flavors. The question is if they are correctly balanced and I would probably say that they are not balanced perfectly. However, still an interesting and very swillable brew.
