Description
In 1933 Charles Caulier, a miner, left his job and decided to set up as a beer reseller in Bonsecours, a small village in the south of Belgium. In 1980, Roger and Linda Caulier took over the family business and continued progressing.
The warehouses soon became too cramped so they took over the buildings of a former tannery in Péruwelz. The products of the Brewery are still brewed in these buildings today.

In the early 1990s, Roger and Linda decided to market their own beer: a custom-made high fermentation blonde. The Bon Secours was born! These were promising beginnings but they still dreamt of creating their own brewery. A dream which became reality when they bought the machinery from the Deneve brewery in Schepdaal and inaugurated the first brew in 1996!

In 2007, the NV Brasserie Caulier was declared bankrupt. At the beginning of 2008, the activities were transferred to a private limited company of the sons of Roger Caulier, who subsequently adopted the name Brasserie et Distillerie Caulier. As of 2012, Laurent, Bertrand and Vincent joined their parents in the adventure. In order to respond to the growing demand for its products, in 2018 the Brewery began a large multi-annual programme of investments with the goal of tripling its production capacity. The historical Brewing House has been extended, new fermentation and storage tanks have been added, and the bottling line has been modernised.

0.33 l bottle from 'Ace Drinks', brewed in January 2023, best before March 2025. Hazy, golden amber with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, white head. Slightly sweetish, gently yeasty-spicy, slightly fruity-grassy aroma of hay, honey, clove and some lemon peel. Gently sweet, moderately bitter, slightly dry, quite grassy, fruity-floral and gently yeasty-spicy taste of grains, clove, hay, lemon peel, vanilla and honey, followed by a medium long, gently bitter, dry finish. Medium to full body, smooth and gently effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Refreshing, nicely hoppy Tripel, extremely well-balanced. Good!

On tap at Alkmaars Bierhuis, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out gentle candi sugar, floral notes, and some doughy notes. Flavour is somewhat chaotic, with Belgian yeast esters, candi sugar, floral notes, and a bit of perfumey booze. Not the most refined tripel, with the yeast being a bit chaotic. Pleasant though and not too estery. Okay.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Coop, Culemborg. Clear dark golden with a big white head. Fruity malty aroma which is a bit subdued at first but quickly develops into a nice yeasty tripel aroma. Sweet taste with a long medium bitter finish. Good tripel.

Yellow colour with light haze and stable head. Quite an earthy aroma, a little grainy and herbal like a seasoned cracker. The mint is detectable but is more herbal and rounded, not too fresh or minty. Citrus comes through well. Zesty bitterness.

Smell-weak hops, weak honey, weak spice. Foam- thin, hops, weak citrus, weak bitter tones, faint honey. Head is medium-sized, and white in color. Sticks. Appearance- simple can. Clear-ish yellow-orange color, no carbonation. From - pint Price - 3.99 euros for 0.44l Taste - weak honey, weak bitter tones. Odd, it is like it's trying to be honey beer, but at the same time trying to be Belgian at the end making a mess. Not horrible, but bad combination overall.
