Description
Big Drop Brewing Co. is a new craft beer company dedicated to making great beer with an ABV of no more than 0.5%.
Big Drop was launched in October 2016 by the-then City lawyer Rob Fink, along with his school-friend/band-mate, designer and entrepreneur, James Kindred. Along with renowned experimental brewer, Johnny Clayton (formerly of Wild Beer Co), they’ve perfected techniques to make alcohol-free craft beer without the need for artificial removal of alcohol.
The 2018 contract with a leading supermarket chain will require Big Drop, which moved production from a small-batch brewer in Bermondsey to Sussex-based own-label specialist Hepworth, to scale up production from 10,000 litres per month to some 40,000 litres.
Production moved to Black Sheep Brewery after a deal was agreed with Keystone Brewing Group, announced December 2024.

Pours black, small tanned head. Scent is full, rich creamy lactose-coffee. Mild ashy notes from the roasted malts, but perhaps a bit overshadowed due to the lactose. Taste is Sharp, bitter, ashy-roasty, chocolate, milder lactose. Not great - I've yet to find a true gem in the NA stout section - but it is at least better than most of the ones I had before. Perhaps a 'bit' to the thin side, and bit to much emphasis on the ashy notes to my taste.

330ml can. Clear golden yellow appearance, small white head. Crisp, crushable character overall with a moderately thin body. High carb. OK but no fruity hop shades to make their mark.

440ml can. Pours black, receding beige head. Lovely chocolate and coconut aroma. Taste is exactly what I hoped it would be. Smooth, great coconut and chocolate notes with a nice full body. Nice.

440ml can. Clear gold pour, small white head. Good body but seems to be all about the bitterness with no fruity / citrus hop notes. A bit disappointing.

330ml can. Clear gold pour, large white froth. Some fleeting bubblegum moments to taste before that Big Drop bitterness dominates. Bit thin on flavour. Ok AF sipper.

On tap at the Stockholm Beer Festival, 2019. Pours almost black with a beige head. Roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee notes. A little thin, but impressive for a gluten-free, low alcohol stout.

Pours a bit unclear blonde, small white head. Scent is full, peach, breezer-like (remember those?) fresh. Taste is sharp, bit bitter, mild vanilla, some berries. Not overly full, tad bitter. I'd expect more sweetness , concidering the big 'PASTRY' anouncement and the fact Amundsen is in this collab. Sourness is very mild. Actually, a bit more sweetness would connect the dots a bit better, and provide a better body. Surprising to complain about a sour not being sweet enough, I guess, but thats the curse of the pastry hype & expectations.

Can picked up from Beer Republic webshop Breda Netherlands (I think?) and consumed at home Monday 13th September 2021 whilst cooking Sticky Plums with Pork Traybake and listening to Steve Lamaqs Evening Session on 6 Music. Pours gold, almost clear with a white head. Nice light citrus bite , pleasant lengthy bitterness, this is another very decent non alcohol beer.
