Description
Brasserie du Bocq was set up in 1858 by Martin Belot. The Brewery was incorporated into a limited company in 1949. Independent of any Belgian or foreign brewer, it still beholds its own family nature. Located in the heart of the Condroz, wonderful tourist region, this dynamic company still uses the traditional manufacturing process of top-fermentation beers with secondary fermentation in the bottle.

In 1983, Brasserie du Bocq abandons the exploitation of Central Brasserie Marbaix -La-Tour, to bring all the beer production back to Purnode where the production tools have been radically modernized on the basis of equity. Today in Purnode, although the Belot family has sold its assets to the Keersmaekers family who has been producing the Corsendonk at the Brasserie du Bocq for over 30 years, and even though the brewery has far exceeded its regional framework, nothing has changed and the values of the company remain intact.

Bottle from Drankenhandel Leiden. Aroma is floral-ish hop with citrus, grass, soft floral notes, orange. Picking up a little Belgian yeast. Flavour is medium bitter with a mild sweetness. Medium body. Decidedly Belgian 'Double IPA', but I dig hopped up Belgian Ales.

19/1/2025. Bottle bought at an Auchan in France, probably Calais, some years ago, seems to have got forgotten in the boxes of stock. Opened and poured fine, clear deep amber with a small frothy off-white head. Aroma is malty, caramel, sweet fruits, biscuit. Taste is quite sweet with mellow bitterness. Medium body, average carbonation. Considering this was a cheap supermarket beer beyond its bb date this was okay.

Hazy blond colour, white foam. Nose of perfume, citrus, oranges. Taste is sweet, with notes of peach, a bit dirty. Not very nice

330ml bottle. Dark brown with moderate beige creamy head once settled, lots of lacing. Looks great. Aroma of rasins, berries, caramel, toffee, semi sweet and rich. Taste is aromatic spicy, rasins, light treacle, caramel, berries. Light bitter resin finish which is decent but could be better. Mouthfeel is smooth but slightly sticky, soft carbonation. This is not one of those Belgium beers that make you go 'wow' but it is very well made.
