Founded in 1997 by Jérôme Rebetez, who had formerly been trained as an oenologist, this tiny brewery has rapidly become known for making beers that stretch traditional beer style guidelines and use unorthodox ingredients. BFM's products are made in small batches and hand-packaged at the brewery.

Bottled. Hazy orange colour with mediumsized foamy head. Weak hoppy and herbal aroma. Flavour is hoppy and hayish with fry papery finish. Quite dry in the aftertaste also, mainly of grass.

Bottled. Hazy brown colour, minor white head. Strong alcohol, fruit and plum in the aroma. Flavour is alcoholic and plummy with hints of pepper and some other spices. Interesting beer, which has clear strong hints of alcohol, but not disturbing at all.

Dark hazy brown with a thin white head. Rosewood and lactic acid, horseblanket and cherries in aroma. In mouth, a Grand Cru with kick, cerry, tannins, alcohol. Rich bodied and pleasnt. But this isnt a flemmish sour???Mondial 2006.

Bottle. Hazy amber colour with a small white head. Sweet yeasty aroma with some spicy hints. Sweet malty, slightly yeasty, flavor. Long bitter finish with hints of yeast and spices.

Hazy light golden ale with a creamy white head. Light lactic acid and barnyard notes, with light skunkyness. Good refreshing malt, with light coriander, mint and good acidity. A good summer wit, original. At the Mondiale, June 2006.

Hazy brown ale with a thick off white head. Yeasty orange peels in aroma, with light cloves and spices. In mouth, a decent malt, with light acidity, cloves, hops, floral hops and pleasant. Medium bodied. At the Mondiale, June 2006.

Bottled, thanks Bov!] Cloudy amber, rich, lively head. Obvious and interesting aroma of various herbal spices. Sweet with dense mouthfeel. Intense flavours of brandy, almonds, fruit and cocoa. Really malty but with rather slender mouthfeel.

[Bottled, thanks Bov!] Hazy mahogany colour. Refined aroma of tobacco and well oaked red wine. Medium sweet. Mildly malty and very vinous with some tartness. Surprisingly light bodied for it’s size. Simply wonderful flavourwise, with slightly less sweetness it’d achieve perfection!

I know its only a few ratings but a Standard Deviation of .8, damn. Well I guess I am not going to help it because I am enjoying this beer right now. Bottle poured into a Celebrator glass (I just got and really wanted to use it). Pours cloudy yellow with a glowing translucence but cannot see through the beer. Medium head that sticks around for a bit. The aroma is definitly in the farmhouse category. Belgiany, citrusy and grassy but with a malt presence. Taste is a bit stale, expected it to be a bit more lively fromt the aroma. Citrusy with a lemony zing at the end of the flavor. Leaves a peppery-citrusy taste in the back of the throat. T’misje blonde is a beer I recently enjoyed that was very similar to this.

11.2 oz swingtop - very turbid, amber/brown pour, with a huge frothy head - very dry aroma, with hops present quite present up front, followed by other spices (cinnamon, perhaps some nutmeg), then some cocoa and musty, slightly tart, yeasty qualities - a very dry and spicy ale - cocoa and cookie/gingerbread flavors initially - then, lingering beneath the earthy, hoppy dryness, some hints of sweet caramel and toffee - then some smokey, peat/scotch-like flavors - an orange marmalade-like sweetness develops as the beer warms, balancing the spicier qualities - super dry throughout, but quite subtly complex - quite underrated so far.
