Description
Kinn Bryggeri AS was incorporated in April 2009.

Here at Kinn we create craft beers in the English and Belgian traditions based on the purest mountain water from Sagafjella. Ancient craftsmanship - open fermentation and bottle conditioning - are important to us. None of our beers are ever pasteurised or filtered, and every one of them is brewed in our two breweries in Florø. Kinn beers are available off the shelf throughout Norway, and we also export to selected countries.

On tap @ Nærbø beerfestival. Hazy yellow body with a thin white head. A bit weak on aroma, hint of fruit and spicy yeast. Quite light flavor as well, fruity, some malt, spices and yeast. Refreshing and dry, slightly acidic aftertaste with spices. Easy to drink, but not exactly my favorite style. There is also something in the flavor I can’t exactly put my fingers on, it’s kind of sour and I also found it in Slåtteøl, can’t really say I appreciate it.

Bottle. Pours a deep reddish brown colour with a beige head. Roasted aroma of nuts, coffee, leather and dried fruit. Similar flavour with lightly roasted tones along with brown malt. Sweetness in the background that balance it. Has a light and slick mouth feel, light body and bitterness. A nice brown ale, roasted and tasteful.

Cask at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Dark ruby colour, low off-white head. Roasty aroma, notes of cold coffee, hints of ashes. Dry flavour, notes of cold coffee and ashes again, the mouthfeel is rather thin. As the Biblical manna that God "miraculously" provided for the Israelites in the desert (actually a natural plant secretion, according to more recent research) was reported to be "sweet like honey", I expected Kinn Manna to be a somewhat sweeter and richer beer than this. Drinkable of course, but not Kinn’s most exciting offering.

330ml draught at Grünerløkka Brygghus where the beer was served comfortably chilled. Unclear dark brown body. Fading, off-white head, spotty lacework. Fine aroma of dark malts and dusty hops. Ripe citric fruits in flavour supported by nuances of herbal hops, and dark malts beneath. Medium bodied. Very smooth in the mouth. A nice one that really fits the season (Oslo, 26.09.2011).

Bottle, 75cl. A bit, off-white head sits on top of an unclear, golden-orange body. The head soon collapses into a half centimeter thick layer of bubbles. Spiced hoppyness and pale malts on the aroma, some caramel and flowers. Lightly yeasty. The flavor has a bit more sweetness than I would like it, but it tastes good anyway. A nice bitterness as well. Fruity, citrusy, and resiny. Overall, I think this is a good beer, they need to work on the fermentation I guess, making it drier and less heavily carbonated. Won’t shy away from drinking more of it though. 111001
