Tap at The Euston Tap - 28/08/12. Rich dark brown approaching black with a thin tan head that soon dissipates to the edge. Big roasted malt nose backed up by sweet sugars and milky chocolate. Tastes as nose but less roastiness and sweeter than the aroma suggests but leading to a dry roasted finish.

330 bottle through bestillingsutvalget at Vinmonopolet. Cloudy, apricot coloured body. One-finger, beige head that stays and laces well. Floral hoppy nose sustained by red oranges. Citrus peels in flavour offset by mild malty sweetness. Protracted bitter finish. Soft on the swallow. Well made and well bodied. Enjoying and moreish (Tromsø, 24.08.2012).

Bottle at home, 6th September 2012. Pours nicely to form a good looking clear beer, dark golden. Aroma is nice and the flavour is clean and hoppy, good oily mouth feel and carbonation. This is a good solid IPA.

330ml bottle. Pours very dark brown with a medium head. Aroma is sweet dry roast with some dark berries. Taste has dry roast throughout with a sweet, milky finish. Far too much carbonation.

(Draught at Chez Moeder Lambic Fontainas, Brussels, 19 July 2012) Hazy amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with citrus, caramel, bitter orange marmalade and citric hops. Fruity, hoppy taste with notes of orange, caramel, dried apricots and flavours of resin and orange peel in the finish. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness and a generous citric bitterness. Nice one.

Draft at Moeder Lambic. Pours clear olden with a medi white head. Aroma of grapefruit, floral hops, light sweet malt. Flavour is light to moderate sweet and moderate to heavy bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

330 ml bottle, shared by abemorsten. ABV is 5.2%. Black colour, large beige head. The aroma is woody and roasty, notes of cold coffee and chocolate. Fairly thin and fizzy mouthfeel, The flavour has woody and moderately roasty notes with cocoa, but is not nearly as rich, roasty, "thick" and sweet as I hoped for. Low bitterness.

Bottle from Mr Lawrence Wine Merchants, Brockley. Cloudy orange pour with a white head. Peach, pineapple and orange marmalade aroma. Citrus and pineapple flavour. Smooth on palate leading to a fruity hop finish. Tasty stuff.

08/08/2012 La Tana (tap). Ambrata, un po’ spenta, schiuma bianca poco abbondante e non molto persistente. Al naso aroma delicato, molto fruttato e delicato, con note di malto evidenti. In bocca mostra un bell’equilibrio, una facilità di beva più che buona, un finale un po’ timido. Il corpo è medio, la carbonazione corretta. Mancano i fuochi d’artificio della Spaceman, ma si fa apprezzare per l’equilibrio.

Bottle. It pours a black body under a finger thick, dense, tan head. The aroma is in the roasted, almost burnt side of the spectrum, with treacle and dark chocolate. Some sourish notes too. It’s medium to full-bodied, and too carbonated to be pleasant. The flavour is quite nice though, slightly sourish with roasted malts, chocolate, some charcoal and dried fruits. A pleasant bitterness chimes in towards the end, blending nicely with the roasted flavour. Ok, so it’s a quite nice beer, but I don’t think the lactic sourness suits it very well, and I wasn’t expecting it either. Maybe that’s the problem, but I don’t think it’s intended. 120828
