Description
Crouch Vale Brewery was established in 1981 by two beer enthusiast. The brewery was cobbled up from whatever was available cheaply. In 2006 a new brewery, purpose-built and capable of much more consistent and better product quality, was opened. However, the original production ethos was (and still is) maintained โ ingredients are purchased on quality rather than price and the brewery is still manned by real people, who hand-craft the beers.

Pours gold from the bottle. A thick, frothy white head clings to the glass and lingers. Aroma is a subtle blend of tropical fruits, but sweetish, more peach and honey mellon than citrus or pine. Thereโs also an odd hint of something I canโt quite place but reminds me of dishwashing liquid. Taste is mildly sweet, turning mildly bittersweet at the finish. Body is to the lighter side of medium, carbonation is mild. Overall, good.

Pours gold from the bottle. The frothy white head slowly settles. Aroma is floral with hints of tropical fruits. Taste has a light citric tartness up front, finishes tart and mildly bitter. Very clean and very smooth. Body is fairly light but assertive enough. Refreshing. Overall, very well balanced and a pleasure to drink. If I could get this regularly I would see it being a favorite summer beer.

Cask, at The Wharf. An almost clear dark golden to amber colored beer with a small, white bread. Some lacing. Rather weak aroma, some bread and a grapefruity fruityness, with a faint touch of anise seed in the far back. It's soft and medium bodied, semi-dry, with a low carbonation level. Grapefruit, pine cones, done generic citrus zest and a light bread touch in the flavor. Nice bitterness, and a quote long finish. The aroma wasn't much to write home about, but the flavor is quite nice. 180224
