Description
Crouch Vale Brewery was established in 1981 by two beer enthusiast. The brewery was cobbled up from whatever was available cheaply. In 2006 a new brewery, purpose-built and capable of much more consistent and better product quality, was opened. However, the original production ethos was (and still is) maintained – ingredients are purchased on quality rather than price and the brewery is still manned by real people, who hand-craft the beers.

Bottle at home and it's a good one. Balanced towards malt so there is a sweetness to the taste but very refreshing. And loads going on for a sensible abv. Very good example of the style.

1/3 cask pour at GBBF Winter. Foggy golden pour with a frothy white head. Hoppy aroma, fruity, musty. Taste adds on a layer of hop oil character, sticky and oily. Mouthcoating with a fair amount of bitterness.

Bottle shared at the Ben Burrows memorial virtual bottle share. Cheers Grumbo. Aroma of garlic bread, parsley, grass and citrus. Not for me.

Cask at Chelmsfaasarhd Beer Fest. Near clear gold beer, small bubbly pale cream colour head. Airy and semi dry palate, decent fine carbonation. Overall, good condition. Light smooth pale malts, a thin creamy sweetness. Ernest hops deliver a softish sweet pine into a light bright slightly mango, slightly tangerine mandarin affair. Maybe a whispet or lime before a light and semi dry finish. Tangy fruity linger. Well , I am assuming this is an Ernest single hop affair. If so, a lot more tropical than I can recall. A very solid hop in a very solid gold.
