Description
Crouch Vale Brewery was established in 1981 by two beer enthusiast. The brewery was cobbled up from whatever was available cheaply. In 2006 a new brewery, purpose-built and capable of much more consistent and better product quality, was opened. However, the original production ethos was (and still is) maintained – ingredients are purchased on quality rather than price and the brewery is still manned by real people, who hand-craft the beers.

Coggleshall beer festival. Cask. Almost clear gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth, mildly dry, good fine carbonation. Nice condition. Light and sweetish malts. Trace of esters. Hops bring decent tangerine. Floral citrus, touch of grapefruit. Light crispy finish. Nice. Bright and drinkable.

Cask GBBF 2018. It pours clear golden amber with a medium white head. The aroma is sweet, oily, bright, grape, sappy, resin, biscuit and bread. The taste is dry, bitter - sweet, oily, sappy, earthy, pine, resin and a touch of citrus peel with a slick, oily finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Oily mouth feel. Could be a bit bright and more expressive. Fine.
