Description
OWA beer was born in May 2006. It was born and designed for the best Belgium and Japanese fusion food experience. It is indeed a very good combination with SUSHI and YAKITORI (weet soy sauce). The brewery is located in the famous district of Uccle in Brussels, only 2kms from the Moeder Lambic in Saint Gilles. Leo Imai started to brew in December 2008 and in 2009 he made a kitchen laboratory in the brewery, and researched the best marriage with japanese food.

Bottle from Takumi Craft Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear dark chestnut brown colour with a frothy off-white head. The aroma is sweet roasted malt, nuts, liqourice. The flavour is strong sweet with a dry, rich, smoky malt, light sugary fruit, warm alcoholic, woody hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. So sweet it was hard to drink the whole bottle.

F: huge, beige, slowly collapsing. C: dark, opaque. A: dark malts, dark fruits, bit cocoa, iron, caramel, bit nutty. T: sweet dark malty, cocoa, bit chocolate, bit dark cherries, iron, caramel, bit candy sugar, medium body, high bit disturbing carbonation, not bad, enjoyed but peoples probably expect more Japanese beer when see the bottle so it is bit confused, 33cl bottle from Bierwinkel De Hopduvel in Gent.

Sample is OWA Merry Christmas 2011, 8% ABV, 6 yrs old Thick cream-beige head over reddish dark-brown beer. Portwine, Madeirisation, red wine, biscuit, old cookies, brown sugar, sweetened nuts. Sweet, old sugared nuts, madeirisated old wine, red grapes. Bit thinnish MF, accusing its age; slick. Sweet - but good after these years. Not a big beer. 8/4/7/3/15 Txs to Stef!
Kuro OWA Grand Cru 2020 Bourgogne Barrel aged Gushing to enormous beige, dense head over deep dark brown beer with red highlights. Fruity, red fruit, lactic acid and the aromas from "instant made" oud bruin - thought those had gone. Sweet, brown candi sugar, lactic acid, old wood, preserved red fruit. Not very vinous, this one. Chocolate with cherry liqueur. Very slick, oily, good body & good carbonation. Not convincing. 3/7/6.5/4/13 Txs to Stef!

Bottle, vintage 2015. Aroma is thyme, rosemary, sage, lots of spices and herbs, tangerine, wet cellar. Taste is more of the same, lemony. Oily mouthfeel. Quite interesting, but weird.
