About
At the beginning of 2000 we founded our own beer tasting club as a group of friends. we tasted different beers, and soon our interest in beer in general and brewing in particular grew. This interest led to a brewing course and soon our first home-brewed beer followed. A delicious tripel. From then on, beers were brewed at regular intervals with trial and error. Our interest in beer turned into a real passion. From that passion we continued to develop new beers. The quality clearly increased. The choice of playing cards for our labels is also not chosen by chance. As the international capital of the playing card, Turnhout is also our birthplace. We are therefore very proud to be able to present an extensive and varied range to you. By following the increasing demand for our beers and the growing export demand, we decided to build our own brewery. Hard work was done in the spring to have the brewery operational by the summer of 2015. At the end of July we were extremely proud to be able to brew the first beer in our own kettles. In addition to a state-of-the-art brewing installation of 30HL, yeast and bearing tanks of 60Hl and 120HL and our own bottling line, we also have a cellar for the storage of barrels for barrel-aged beers.

In May 2020 a merger of Het Nest and Pirlot took place, but both breweries keep on operating independent from each other.

Bottle, 10%. Roasted aroma, bitter chocolate. Almost black colour, red shine, seems clear. Good stable creamy light brown head. The flavour is roasted and semi-sweet. There is a spicy hop note. Late liquorice and coffee notes. Alcohol bitterness. I like the spicy hop and the base beer, but the alcohol bitterness puts me off a bit.

75cl bottle from (?), presumably the 2023 edition. Hazy ochre, stable, foamy, off-white head. Aroma of apple slices, pear, banana, vanilla, wet clove, wood, white rum. Taste has sweet ripe apple & pear, hint of banana over a white-sugary, doughy, cake-like malt base with some spicy clove in the back. Peppery hoppy finish, lingering ripe yellow fruits, touch of vanilla and warming rum alcohol. Medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. Quite strong but enjoyable.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ van Rooij, Culemborg. Clear golden with a white head. Coriander and citrus aroma. Sweet taste with a medium bitter finish. The coriander and cascade combination works really well. Nice summer beer.

Clear dark brown to black beer, small creamy beige brown head, pretty stable, a bit adhesive. Aroma: nice, lots of caramel, some maple syrup, sugary impression, good, very intense, no rum in the nose though. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: lots of maple syrup up front, pretty bitter though. Malty, some lactose, sweet, gentle roast, alcohol, dark caramel. Aftertaste: bitter, slightly sourish, alcohol, a little chemical, pretty bitter, good roast, maple syrup, earthy, more roast, some coffee in the finish.
