I can't pretend I went into this with high expectations but it's a perfectly drinkable APA. Crisp, bitter citrus, a bit of malty caramel. It's not special but it does the job.

Keg at the White Lion Inn, Patterdale, Cumbria. Clear amber with a good white head and a light fizz. Fresh, leafy, flowery hops with pink grapefruit and a touch of biscuit. Reasonable body. Refreshing. Much better than I have come to expect from Caley.

66cl bottle from Morrisons, Bracknell. A slightly hazy straw coloured pour with a billowing off-white head that fell back to leave a depressingly scummy appearance; malty aroma; sweet malty taste with little sign of any hops. OK to drink after cutting the lawn (as I had just done), but not recommended for any other other occassion.

Okay white head on top of carbonated yellow. Big smell of cabbage. Flavour is more cabbage and a watery finish. God that kid in the apartment below has been screaming all day! I think he needs a beer.

Bottle from Asda. Amber in colour, with a big and tight, off-white, head. Sweetish, citrus hop and marmalade aroma. Flavour had pineapple, tangerine and pine notes, some crisp malts and a dryish finish. A good effort by Caledonian.

660ml my from local offie. It pours clear amber with a thick, foamy white head. The aroma reminds of tennents actually, pale lagery malts, sweet floury bread, chalky, cracker, grass, lager shandy, lemon and lime. The taste is crisp, firm dryness, chalky, doughy white bread, rather grassy, straw, soda water and a bit of pepper with a drying finish. Medium body and moderate to high, foamy carbonation. Tastes like a lager, best served as cold as possible for refreshment reasons only. Fair.

Keg, pint at the Pheasant. Medium amber with small skin of head. Aroma is non-existent. Taste brings some generic maltiness to the brew, a small hint of hops too. More like an American amber than an IPA.
