Description
Our brewery started life up in Morpeth, Northumberland, back in 2012. One name change later, we settled on being called Anarchy Brew Co. and started brewing our core beers, packed with flavour that we still make today (Blonde Star and Citra Star). After running out of room at the old site, we decided we needed somewhere bigger. And in October we moved to new digs in Newcastle upon Tyne, where you’ll find us today. The new Anarchy brewery opened its doors in October 2018 in Walkergate, with the added bonus of our new taproom.

Awesome looking bottle @ benzai. Pitch black colour with a small beige coloured head. Smells roasty, chocolate, some liquorice, some tar, slightly red fruits, sweetish. Tastes roasty, toasty, coal, tar, dark chocolate, a hint of liquorice. Lovely taste. Lasts for quite a while. Full body, soft carbo, thick texture.

Bottle from Leighton at Colin’s 5K. It pours hazy deep amber with a thick yellow-white head. The nose is stewed orange, tangerine, mango, candy, booze and wood. The taste is bitter-sweet, wood, earth, orange, mango, juicy fruits, toast, spice, sherbet, chewy malt and some alcohol warmth. Medium body and fine carbonation. A bit heavy, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Bottle shared at my 5K tasting at Bruce’s pad, thanks once to Leighton - he never stops a ratin’ - for this one, 13/11/13. Hazed dark amber with a moderate off white covering. Nose is sweet, orange, light pine, candied sugars, pineapple, pear juice. Taste comprises earthy hops, grapefruit, sugars, sweet caramel sauce, straw. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry finale with semi aggressive hop bitterness coming into play. Ok - a little rough around the edges and overly sweet, needs a few subtle tweaks and it could become a 3.6/7.

Bottle shared at Bruce’s in London - I got this one from The Internet. Pours unclear amber with a frothy, off-white head. Nose holds dirty hops, dry bread, ripe citrus, orange rind. Medium sweet flavor with punchy alcohol, ripe citrus fruits, pretty juicy, dirty pine, melon, sweet brown bread. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Warm and lightly resinous to finish, so toasted grass, filthy pine, dirt, bitter orange rind, mango. Decent. Hefty.

Keg at Lady Grey’s, Newcastle. Wow. Clear amber pour with a thin white head. Ripe fruit, vanilla, creamy aromas. Big tropical fruits aromas and taste, with caramel sweetness too. Sticky and creamy texture, but a clean crisp finish. Lovely. Dangerously lovely. Nice dessert beer.
