Bottle. The label states that itβs bottle conditioned. Murky dirty yellow with large whitish spongy head, slight vanilla like aroma, medium carbonation, sweetish taste, abrupt finish, precipitate at the bottom of the bottle. Nice try for a Belgian ale, not quite there yet.

Seems to have changed since the older rating on here. On tap at CBM Koenji. Slightly cloudy golden straw color with a modest white head. Slight floral hop and grain on the nose. As it warms up some fruit comes out: banana, citrus and passion fruit. Nice carbonation. Sweet on the palate with a hint of bitterness on the finish. Not bad.

On tap at CBM Koenji. 4.5% ABV version. Big fruity aromas with pear and apple standing out. Soft carbonation. Sweet on the palate. Malts present as well but very fruit forward beer. Dry finish. Solid fruit beer.

330ml bottle. My very first Valentin Japan beer. Pours out a murky brownish almost no head. Nose is very interesting chocolate pit fruit spice very ripe banana and maybe even some green apple. Taste is just as interesting lots going on heavy pit fruit and a nice light sweet chocolate end.

Dark brown color, beige head. Licorice, milky, toasted aroma, slightly medicinal. Light to medium-bodied. Licorice, toasted malts, medicinal in a good way. Some bitterness in the finish. Excellent palate for this ABV. Schwarzbier with lots of taste, probably not a lager.

Bottled@AIH40. Brown colour, small beigeish brown head. Aroma is mild nuts, some smoked wet wood, mild rye as well as some liquorice to it. Flavour is mild roasted notes, some toffee, ashes as well as some mild metallic notes. Mellow bitterness to it as well. Rather dry wooden notes. Pleasant, and surprisingly bodied brew.

Bottle from Asao. This 7% double IPA from Niigata brewery pours a somewhat opaque brown-orange pour with a kind of muddy hue, thin beige head that vanishes fast. Bitter pine, fruity esters but quite a decent aroma. Medium to full bodied, smooth mouthfeel. Bitter pine with a strong herbal flavor, fairly one-dimensional but tasty enough.

This koslch from Niigata pours a surprisingly dark amber brown. I bought it to take my new stange kolsch glass for a spin. A fruity but somewhat neutral aroma if that makes any sense. The taste is very malty, nutty, sweet with some wine like character and a bit of heat, geez this is 7%! Ah no wonder this is nothing like I remember, the last time I had a Kolsch from Niigata it was their European Kolsch and this is their Golden Kolsch which is actually not gold in color, weird. I like it well enough but it is closer to an Old Ale or Scotch Ale than a Kolsch. This should be renamed. Pretty tasty but not what I was looking for to christen my kolsch glass.

Bottled on March 14th, bought at Yamaoka. Served in a plastic IKEA glass along the Takasegawa in bloom. Light peach fizz looking pour, it is a cloudy orange pink! Incredibly sweet, yeasty, peach & syrupy aroma. The body is light very watery, ultra carbonated. The taste is sweet, sake yeast fruity notes, vanilla & not at all beer like - more like a cocktail or Chu-Hi. This is awful, it tastes like some kind of horrible candy sweet cocktail was filtered through cardboard. Avoid avoid avoid, this was a total drain-pour or rather a Takasegawa pour. I had to open a Tokyo Black to just to wipe the memory of this from my mouth.... Bleh... by far the worst beer Iβve ever had from this brewery.

Shared by mick at the Kyoto beer festa. Dark brown pour with a light beige head. Malty sweet nose. Very malty sweet almost spicy with a bit of sourness to it. Ok but fairly average.
